FUNCTION: Participate on a team that develops and sustains processes for complying with Federal Reserve capital planning (CCAR) and liquidity management (LCR) reporting requirements and relevant analysis, while maintaining M&T’s competitive advantage by designing capital planning, liquidity management and profitability measurement tools to incent shareholder value maximizing behavior. As a leader and a team member, the Supervisor assists management by actively participating in the coordination, execution and review of bank regulatory filings, ensuring consistent reporting across numerous Federal Reserve reports (FR Y-9C, Call Report, FR Y-14 series, FR2052) as well as the accuracy, integrity and timely filing of the FR Y-14 and 2052 reports. Play various roles to support the processes for FR Y-14 and 2052 reporting, capital planning and liquidity management, and company-wide data, compliance and risk management matters and initiatives. This individual also provides leadership and training of less experienced staff in areas such as the interpretation of regulatory guidelines, analyses of financial results, and capital planning and liquidity management, including reviewing the work of staff members.    POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: Actively participate in the planning, execution and supervision/review of a broad range of activities related to capital planning and liquidity management reporting and analysis, including the FR Y-14 series, FR2052 and internal management reports. Actively participate in interpreting and analyzing financial results/concepts and presenting conclusions to Senior Management.  This requires the use of effective communication skills (verbal and written), creative problem solving skills and the ability to distinguish pertinent facts and comprehend complex subject matter. Ensures reports and related disclosures are completed in accordance with bank regulatory guidelines, with an emphasis on accuracy and timeliness.   This individual is expected to utilize available authoritative resources (FR Y-9C, Call Report, FR Y-14 and FR2052, etc.) to adequately support conclusions and reporting treatments. Supervise and train staff, including organizing, prioritizing, scheduling work assignments and providing direction to staff in order to meet deadlines. Serve as a subject matter expert and advisor with respect to accounting and regulatory reporting/disclosure issues.  Share knowledge and experience with the department and other members of the Company in order to efficiently provide services to internal customers.   Exhibit a leadership role in department matters (i.e. conducting department meetings, acting as a liaison between analysts and management, apprising management of departmental issues).  Assist the management team with managing, maintaining, and continually working to improve the accounting, reporting and internal control systems used to collect, compile and report the financial information needed by the Company’s staff and management.  Coordinate participation in special projects relating to capital planning and liquidity management reporting.   Actively participate in on-campus and in-office recruiting efforts. Exercise usual authority of a manager concerning staffing, performance appraisals, promotions, salary recommendations, performance management and terminations. Understand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite.  Design, implement, maintain and enhance internal controls to mitigate risk on an ongoing basis.  Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management. Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the M&T Bank brand. Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable. Complete other related duties as assigned.   NATURE AND SCOPE: This position requires the person to work independently with minimal guidance from managers, respond well to tight deadlines, effectively multi-task and take ownership of assignments.  This position also requires close interaction with management team on various departmental matters, including personnel decisions. The individual in this position may supervise several staff members. This position requires regular interaction with department personnel, personnel from other departments, industry advocacy groups, and regulators or auditors in order to gather information, provide advice and respond to inquiries.  Contact with Senior Management in the Risk Management, Finance and Treasury Divisions is frequent.   MANAGERIAL/SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: Provide supervision and guidance to analysts on a daily basis.  It is expected that the Supervisor will foster a cooperative atmosphere and work to further develop the communication, analytical and research skills of the less experienced analysts. This would include developing and promoting strong capabilities in: work paper preparation and documentation; data verification; proofreading; and an understanding of accounting and regulatory reporting requirements.   MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting or equivalent.
Minimum five (5) years’ experience required.
Minimum one (1) year supervisory experience required.

Proven ability to quickly obtain knowledge of bank financial statements and bank regulatory reporting (FR Y-9C, Call Reports, FR Y-14 series, FR2052, etc.).
Proficiency in spreadsheet software. Significant knowledge of PC financial and data software applications. MBA or equivalent work experience desired.
Financial institution experience desirable. Commercial Lending experience
Experience with banking specific financial applications desirable.
Solid understanding of business and accounting/financial reporting processes, systems and controls. Ability to interact effectively with all levels of management and outsiders (bank operations personnel, independent accountants, legal counsel, bank regulators and Senior Management). Ability to work independently and as part of a team, set goals and objectives, and meet deadlines. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.  Superior problem solving skills.
