BPN Director of Two Generation Programs

 

FUNCTION:

Responsible for implementing the Westminster Foundation’s Family Centered Community Change initiative as the centerpiece of Buffalo Promise Neighborhood (BPN). By working with existing BPN partners and staff, this position will be responsible for ensuring that BPN is in

compliance with The Casey Foundation’s values and requirements for continuation with the partnership. As the partnership progresses, this position will identify additional partners and programming to support the initiative’s growing needs.

 

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serve as leader and main contact between The Annie E. Casey Foundation, a principal funder, and BPN
  • Continue to evolve and expand BPN’s Two-Generation initiative
  • Research and identify additional partnership opportunities to improve program outcomes
  • Define and track short term and long-term outcomes
  • Evaluate national programs to augment the Two-Generation initiative
  • Oversee all program development and proposal completion
  • Create and implement a sustainability plan for the program
  • Integrate with new and existing programming to maximize the impact of all BPN programs.
  • Update BPN partners and BPN Management on regular basis
  • Assess current program elements and make recommendations for improvements
  • Management annual budget
  • Develop effective strategies for working with local, state, and national organizations on sustainable financial strategies and innovations
  • Understand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.
  • Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the M&T Bank brand.
  • Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.
  • Complete other related duties as assigned.

 

NATURE AND SCOPE:

BPN is one of five communities in the United States to receive initial funding through the foundation’s Family Centered Community Change initiative (FCCC), a model which complements the cradle-to-college-and-career continuum of services that BPN is implementing to transform the 14215 neighborhood and surrounding community within the City of Buffalo. The FCCC is premised on a two generation family approach that provides programming for children and their families that focus on healthy development, growth and education, and services for adults that concentrate on parenting, job skills and financial security.

 

MANAGERIAL/SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:

Banking Officers as direct reports. Substantial indirect managerial responsibilities with external

partners and BPN Staff

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Urban Planning or related discipline
  • 5 years nonprofit leadership experience
  • In lieu of degree, 10 years’ relevant experience.
  • Experience in the execution or oversight of measurement and evaluation and high level strategic
  • planning
  • Experience managing client relationships, serving in a trusted advisor role and leading strategy and/or organizational change

 

IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED:

  • Master’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Urban Planning or related discipline
  • Excellent organizational skills and well developed verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrate ability to network, build personal and professional relationships, and build longstanding account relationships
  • Stewarding projects including ensuring quality of analysis and outputs and managing project
  • profitability
  • Experience managing teams and stewarding professional development of team members
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and creative thinking skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Demonstrate ability to design effective case management coordination between partners
