Job Description

Basic Function:

Perform skilled legal documentation analysis and interpretation, complex data entry/data perfection for servicing system input and updates within the Commercial Lending Department.


•         Responsible for Commercial Onboarding of loans in Commercial Lending Operations. All functions will be performed within the guidelines of departmental procedures, Corporate Policies, Compliance, Audit and Legal requirements. 

•         Assist in resolution of complex issues.

•         Interact with business liaisons.

•         Interpret legal and bank documents for entry and servicing. 

•         Responsible for high complexity standard and non-standard level research over standard discipline or range of disciplines

•         Intermediate level analysis and reconciliation over standard discipline or range of disciplines

•         The incumbent works under moderate supervision and exercises reasonable judgment in performing duties. 

•         Works with internal contacts within department or other M&T departments.  External contact with attorneys, business and liaisons.

•         Assists with departmental cross-training as well as job shadowing

•         Ability to utilize and challenge mid to high level internal procedures across the department

•         Comprehensive interpretation of legal and bank documentation for internal processing through analysis of circumstances and recommend revisions/updates to system and bank prepared documentation as needed. Including but not limited to Approvals, Notes, Credit Agreements and Mortgage documentation

•         Ensure commercial loan documentation correlates with AFS servicing system and legal loan documentation for accurate and timely loan booking

•         Resolve complex commercial loan booking issues through verifying procedures and upholding Credit Risk policies

•         Applies set rules to make a decision

•         Performs other duties as requested by management. 

Basic Qualifications:

•         High School or GED required

•         Associate's Degree or 1 year of work related experience

•         In lieu of degree 2 years of work experience  

•         PC skills

•         Moderate problem solving skills

•         Sets examples for others with a strong work ethic 

•         Supports cross training activities and the ability to work in a team environment 

•         Demonstrates oral and written communication skills 

•         Organizational and customer service skills 

•         Flexibility to support multiple business lines 

•         Familiar with business terms

•         Must be reliable

Ideal Qualifications:

•         Two (2) years relevant work experience
