Title: Business Analytics and Reporting Analyst II, Commercial Payment Solutions
Location: M&T Center, Buffalo NY
As key member of the Commercial Sales Reporting Team, this individual is a resourceful problem solver and strong communicator who interacts regularly with a wide array business partners at all levels of the organization on both routine and non-routine projects.  He or she acts in a liaison capacity between various sales and support teams, Commercial Reporting, and Technology personnel, providing specialized knowledge, data, and insights.
  • Develop and produce departmental reports and spreadsheets requiring advanced reporting skills to include but not limited to project or product strategy analysis, historical reporting, work flow analysis, and financial analysis.
  • Maintain strong understanding of Commercial Bank system functionality (e.g. ERM), sales and incentive policies and procedures, and data sources.
  • Leverage SQL, Tableau, Excel, and other software packages to mine, manipulate, analyze, and present data on a timely and ad-hoc basis for various audiences; ensuring information is accurate and maintaining appropriate controls.
  • Perform complex non-routine queries and programming.
  • Participate as a team member/leader in the planning and implementation of new projects, products, and programs to achieve short and long-term business objectives; assist in developing project plans, testing, procedures, and implementation.
  • Identify reporting and documentation gaps and opportunities for departmental efficiencies / standardizations, making recommendations to management.
  • Participate in training of end-users as needed.
  • May have responsibility for database maintenance of new and existing systems.
  • Maintain confidentiality and data integrity of sensitive, customer, financial, and employee information.
  • Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of the functions, processes, and operations of the Commercial sales teams, including the reporting tools sales reps use on a daily basis. Keep abreast of business and market trends that may affect the business/department.
  • Drive continuous improvement of existing processes and/or development of new processes, including maintenance plans, procedural documentation and custom tools for automation.
  • Assist with technical troubleshooting and escalations, coordinating with business partners, vendors and technology to address issues for the team.

  • Complete other related duties as assigned.
The position is responsible for non-routine projects under very general supervision. The position interacts with internal bank personnel on various projects.
  • Bachelor’s degree in an applicable field (i.e. Business, Finance, Statistics, Marketing, MIS) or the equivalent in work experience.
  • Minimum of seven years’ experience in field.
  • Minimum two years’ prior departmental experience.
  • Skilled proficiency in the use of spreadsheet, database, graphing, presentation, and department specific software, with a working knowledge of financial models.
  • Excellent knowledge of Windows and PC software programs.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical ability and creative problem solving skills.
  • Ability to interact effectively with all levels of personnel.
  • Ability to work independently and function as a member of a project team.
  • Ability to function as a project leader.
  • Detail oriented.
  • General knowledge of Commercial Bank structure, products, processes, and operations.
  • Skilled in programming languages utilized by department.
  • Ability to create independent queries/programs with software and mainframe programs, or perform statistical calculations preferred
