Title: Business and Planning Analyst I – Collateral Control
Business Overview:
The M&T Business Capital Collateral Control Department specializes in providing collateral monitoring and financial analysis services for Asset Based and Formula Based lines of credit across the M&T footprint.
An MTBC Analyst monitors a diverse portfolio of working capital lines of credit. The lines very in size, complexity and industry. Monitored lines range in commitment sizes from 1,000,000 to 100,000,000. Monitoring complexity varies from monthly reporting formula based middle market working capital lines to highly complex, daily monitored asset based syndicated lines. The industries are equally diverse and includes, distributors, manufactures, government contractors, finance companies, international and any other industry supported by Asset Based Finance and Middle Market across footprint. Analysts are an important part of the relationship team providing front line support through constant communication with customer and relationship managers.
Collateral monitoring involves ongoing analysis of receivable and inventory reporting as well as analysis of financial statements.  It requires daily monitoring of borrower’s cash position and an understanding or their cash management systems. The position involves ongoing interaction with the Field Exam Department as well as assistance in onsite field audits. 
 
The Opportunity:
The successful candidate will complete on the job training in collateral monitoring procedures and concepts, and be assigned a portfolio to monitor. The candidate will also participate in Field Exam and Underwriting training to enable them to understand big picture of Asset Based Finance and allow them exposure to those departments as well as potential career opportunities. The successful candidate will receive both formal and informal credit training during the program and gain exposure to the M&T Business Capital portfolio staff and their clients as well as middle market lenders in the regions where the clients are located. 
Primary Responsibilities:
• Collateral Monitoring: Analyze, review and evaluate customer accounts receivable and inventory to ascertain validity. Calculate eligibility of collateral reported to determine appropriate borrowing base. Work directly with customer to resolve discrepancies or concerns in reporting.
• Problem Resolution: Identify overdraft and out-of-formula situations. Research cause and potential resolutions to situations and discuss with borrower. Present information and potential resolutions to Relationship Manager and work with them to determine and document best resolution.
• Financial Analysis: Analyze collateral reporting and financial statements to determine borrowing cause and other working capital and borrower performance trends. Communicate findings to Relationship Managers and management on ongoing basis as well as provide a formal trend report on monthly basis.
• Loan Administration: Provide daily customer support to borrowers by approving advance requests according to borrowing formula. Collateral Analyst must be proficient with all bank’s loan applications in order to perform job effectively as well as to provide support to customers and Relationship Managers. 
Minimum Qualifications Required:
• Bachelor’s degree, or in lieu of a degree a minimum of four (4) years work experience
