Job Description

The Mortgage Division Systems Testing Lead will perform an integral role the overall systems Deployment Management and BAU Praxis life cycles providing testing expertise and standardized testing processes. The Testing Lead will write test scripts and facilitate the completion of user acceptance testing for changes to existing system functionality and upgrades, as well as new technologies. The testing lead will contribute heavily to the division’s ability to identify system issues and mitigate risk. The position will perform initial triage on identified issues during component and regression testing and, if necessary, will escalate testing-related issues, concerns and risks to the deployment and/or configuration team for resolution prior to production implementation. The position will execute on divisional systems testing needs in accordance with agreed upon  timelines.

  • Maintains full awareness of  system Release Notes  & KSL’s for testing impacts and leverages this data to create meaningful test scripts to support divisional LOS code deployments
  • Executes on KSL focused smoke testing efforts and UAT component and regression testing handled within the Empower Development & Support landscape during  code deployment and BAU Praxis Testing cycles
  • Leverages PCS for issue reporting and tracking during code deployment cycles
  • Contributes to the facilitation of business stakeholder awareness of deployment schedule and content for all mortgage division specific applications using various  stakeholder forums and communication methods
  • Secures signoff for deployment and BAU Praxis testing items following prescribed change management operating policies and procedures
  • Participate in meetings related to planning and implementing new business processes and systemic functionality within the mortgage originations business in support of short and long-term business objectives
  • Maintain records of testing documentation on departmental sharepoint site per audit standards
  • Understand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite
  • Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management
  • Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the M&T Bank brand
  • Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable
  • Complete other related duties as assigned

    Empower Development and Support provides systems support for mortgage division specific software applications including, but not limited to the Empower LOS. This position:
    • Maintains an excellent functional understanding of the supported applications.
    • Participates with systems analysts, system administrations, sales and operations staff and IT infrastructure staff in overall systems user acceptance testing.
    • Evaluates and understands complex interrelationships and effects among programs, interfacing applications and platforms. Provides highly analytical consulting in identifying and implementing appropriate and meaningful testing strategies to ensure production implementation will result in software that enforces compliance with mortgage regulations and mitigates against any disruption in business processes
    • Assists in the preparation of charts, tables and diagrams to assist in analyzing testing challenges; particularly those adversely impacting regulatory compliance or those impeding operational efficiency.
    • Maintains a good understanding of the business being supported and its functions, processes, regulatory requirements, operations and strategic direction.

Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 1 year’s Empower testing experience, or in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 5 years’ higher education and/or work experience, including a minimum of 1 year’s systems testing experience.
  • Ability to communicate and work effectively with Technology Support Areas, Business Partners, and software vendors.
  • Excellent organizational management skills.
  • Thorough familiarity with problem analysis and excellent level of problem solving capabilities to establish potential alternatives and solutions to problems.
  • Detailed knowledge of the mortgage division business processes for all channels of business.
  • Must be highly organized and capable of handling multiple tasks concurrently.
  • Capable of quickly learning new business process skills.

Minimum of 3-5  years’ mortgage banking experience that spans the originations cycle from sales through post closing. 
Extensive Empower LOS system knowledge.
Ability to work independently as well as within a team.
