Business Systems Analyst III - Data Warehouse Cheektowaga, NY  
 
THE OPPORTUNITY:
Facilitates moderately complex technical projects from proposal through post implementation. Participates in meetings with internal application owners to identify their requirements in application look and feel to the end user and provides appropriate feedback. Writes and executes test scripts for assigned applications or systems.
 
Coordinates implementation and post-implementation process, documentation and deliverables in identifying impact before and after application changes.
 
Completes various system testing activities not covered by clients completing User Acceptance Testing (UAT) or other teams.

Prepares thorough and accurate functional specifications for assigned projects, test plans, test scripts and execution of test scripts and completes research analysis of moderately complex data to ensure functional design of assigned projects is accurate. Serves as mentor to less experienced staff and assists in application training, research analysis and project methodology consultation.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
May serve as functional lead on moderately complex technical projects for assigned application.

Meet with internal application owners to discuss requested application changes related to enterprise-wide or business initiatives, compliance/regulatory requirements, system changes due to contractual agreements or system maintenance (business as usual [BAU]) ensuring a thorough understanding of specifications for assigned applications. Participate in design discussions and write functional specifications for application changes for moderately complex projects; review and revise specifications with client until agreement and signoff are achieved.

Review business requirements with technology team to ensure understanding of project requirements. Prepare test plans and scripts for assigned applications based on functional specifications. Manage and execute test scripts and verify changes and enhancements work and perform as expected and required.
Work with peers to determine impact application changes have on other systems.

Participate in integrated testing as required to identify any application issues prior to changes being put into production.

Monitor functional specifications and change requests to ensure project stays within scope and meets regulatory requirements, while ensuring adherence to business requirements and Corporate Technology standards. Ensure the Bank process and documentation is followed to comply with Corporate Technology standards and regulatory requirements.

Ensure efficient and timely resolution of issues arising from testing or implementation, either directly or with assistance from more experienced personnel, to ensure expected performance.

Coordinate post-implementation follow-up related to application changes by getting feedback from application owners and resolving any resulting issues either directly or with assistance from more experienced personnel.
Understand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.

Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.
Complete other related duties as assigned.

NATURE AND SCOPE:
The position has direct interaction with internal business clients on a regular basis for moderately complex projects. The position has no supervisory responsibilities but may assist in the development of less experienced team members.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Minimum of an Associate’s degree and 3 years’ operational/business analytics experience, or in lieu of a degree a combined minimum of 5 years’ higher education and/or work experience including a minimum of 3 years’ operational/business analytics experience.
 
Experience and familiarity with a data warehouse environment
Proficiency with personal computers as well as pertinent software packages.

Capable of working on multiple projects of moderate complexity.
Ability to effectively use project management, word processing and spreadsheet applications.
Proven problem-solving skills to assist in issue resolution.
Familiar with application development software and hardware platforms.
Proven verbal and written communication skills.
Proven organizational and time management skills.
Proven lateral thinking skills.
Proven presentation skills.
Ability to coordinate between Applications and business units.
Ability to recommend and implement systems solutions.
Detail-oriented.

IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED:
Experience or subject matter expert in business with knowledge and experience utilizing application/system being supported.
Proven understanding of applications supported with a knowledge of interfacing/integrated applications.
Successful performance in Technology Internship program.
Good understanding of the Bank’s application framework.
Ability to work in a team environment as well as autonomously.
Ability to multitask for various components of moderately complex projects.
Ability to determine and achieve project milestones and delivery dates.
