Job Description

Title: Commercial Risk Testing Analyst

Basic Function:

• Responsible for developing and implementing various risk and credit policy initiatives by conducting periodic monitoring, reviews and testing.

• Manage the test work and escalation of results.

• Communicates issues uncovered by monitoring and testing and assists with recommending control improvements to Commercial Risk Team and senior management.

Position Responsibilities:

• Design, implement and maintain a continuously evolving testing program of First Line of Defense controls, inclusive of credit policy controls. 

• Understand, execute and document test plans according to formalized timelines.

• Provide control test results, review for integrity, and report findings.

• Gain and develop a detailed understanding of processes or associated technology to identify control gaps or to make recommendations that address the identified gaps.

• Proactively identify the root-cause of issues to provide recommendations for improvement where weaknesses are identified.

• Formulate solutions to minimize impact of identified issues, communicate to appropriate business managers, and follow up to ensure control improvements are implemented

• Work with Management to obtain responses that address the identified issues.

• Assess the efficacy and materiality of given control ratings, testing frequency and control monitoring results.

• Research applicable policies, controls and processes within the business.

• Develop, review and report on the adequacy and effectiveness of the control environment to business unit managers and senior management.

• Manage multiple tasks concurrently in an efficient and effective manner with minimal oversight.

• Build strong partnerships with business stakeholders and other testing team members.

• Communicate extensively with business unit personnel.

• Perform other related assignments as requested by management.

Minimum Qualifications Required:

• Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 1 years’ relevant work experience or in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 5 years higher education and/or work experience, including a minimum of 1 year relevant work experience.

• Excellent oral and written communication skills.

• Strong analytical ability and creative problem solving skills.

• Strong data interpretation skills.

Ideal Qualifications Preferred:

• Familiarity and understanding of Commercial Lending and Credit Policy.

• Ability to interact effectively with all levels of personnel.

• Ability to work independently and function as a member of a project team.

• Detail oriented.

• Minimum of 3 years banking industry experience.

• Highly skilled proficiency in the use of spreadsheet, database, graphing, presentation, and department specific software, with a working knowledge of Commercial Scorecard System.
