Job Description

Title: Commercial Service Supervisor

Basic Function: 

Supervise commercial support team activities for a large team or one at multiple locations in accordance with established policies and procedures.

Position Responsibilities: 

• Serve as a champion for the partnership between the respective Commercial Support Teams within the regions and those more centrally located.

• Supervise a large commercial support team, possibly at multiple locations. Ensure that assigned commercial support team is performing assigned duties and responsibilities in accordance with established policies and procedures.

• Make recommendations for improving processes and procedures that will result in risk mitigation, time savings, cost reduction, or an improvement in customer satisfaction.

• Proactively document unwritten procedures and collaborate with Procedures Manager.

• Assist with the development and implementation of training programs for the commercial support team.

• Provide advice and guidance to commercial support team regarding workload prioritization, procedures, risk avoidance, personnel issues, and problem customer situations. Manage and troubleshoot problem situations.

• Responsible for performance management, employee development, employee engagement, and disciplinary action for assigned commercial support team.

• Supervise and make recommendations to streamline ad hoc data collection requests.

• Assist in the development of new service or credit support review process as needed.

• Develop relationship with internal partners throughout the bank. Partner on the development of materials for new initiatives when possible.

• Responsible for partnering with line management to understand needs and ensure that the commercial support team is effectively and efficiently meeting them. Represent the team in the communication of concerns to partners and line management.

• Exercises supervisory authority concerning staffing, performance appraisals, promotions, and employee relations matters.

• Adhere to applicable compliance/operational risk controls in accordance with Company or regulatory standards and policies.

• Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the M&T Bank brand.

• Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.

• Complete other related duties as assigned.

Nature and Scope:

The Commercial Support Implementation Supervisor is responsible for ensuring that assigned commercial support team effectively delivers prompt and efficient in adherence with stated procedures.

Managerial/Supervisory Responsibility:

This position will manage 6 employees

Minimum Qualifications Required:

• Bachelor’s degree and minimum of 4 years customer service or operations experience preferably in banking with 2 years of supervisory experience, to include mentoring and coaching experience or in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 8 years higher education and/or work experience including a minimum of 4 years customer service or operations experience preferably in banking with 2 years of supervisory experience, to include mentoring and coaching experience.

• Proficient with the use of personal computers.

• Knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.

• Knowledge of financial statements and loan documentation.

• Ability to work as a team member, with internal business partners, and to develop working relationships with individuals in middle to senior management.

• Demonstrates excellent customer service skills with the ability to use tact and diplomacy.

• Ability to manage a team at multiple locations.

• Strong interpersonal skills.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to multi-task.

• Ability to develop training materials.

• Ability to develop original presentation material and present to a group on a topic that is new or familiar.

Ideal Qualifications Preferred:

• Established network of contacts within the Commercial Bank.

• Working knowledge of bank systems used by the commercial support team.

• Knowledge of bank policies, procedures, and banking regulations.

• Experience with Microsoft SharePoint.
