Job Description

This position is a fixed term role providing legal and regulatory research on a project based initiative for Corporate Compliance. This role is temporary in nature and slated to last until project completion.

Working under the general supervision of Corporate Compliance and/or Risk leadership, this position will conduct legal, statistical, regulatory and documentary research and provide regulatory summaries for review, include charts/spreadsheets
May assess bank forms and procedures for the purpose of determining whether any revisions are necessitated by changes in regulations, bank policy or product set offered.
Obtain, analyze and provide information related to the assigned project and present to Compliance leadership for decision and final recommendations.
Perform other assignments as requested.
Understand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.
Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.
Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the M&T Bank brand.
Complete other related duties as assigned.

This position is a fixed term role. The position requires extensive interaction with Corporate Compliance employees and leadership within M&T. This position will work under general supervision of Corporate Compliance or other Risk Management leadership.


Bachelor's degree and a minimum of one year’s paralegal experience or closely related work experience, or in lieu of degree, a combined minimum of five years’ higher education and/or work experience, including a minimum of one year’s paralegal experience, or closely related work experience.
Strong working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet and database applications.
Computerized and traditional legal research skills.
Ability to work under pressure and to function professionally with a wide range of clients on all levels (management and non-management).
Excellent analytical ability, as well as research and accuracy skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to work efficiently and independently.
Ability to balance a diverse set of duties, to set priorities and to meet deadlines.
Ability to effectively balance multiple priorities to achieve expected quality results.

JD degree preferred.
NYS Bar Admission.
