Job Description


Basic Function
Responsible for providing complex, highly specialized analytical, technical and operational support at the business or department level. Act as project leader on complex and highly visible projects.
Essential Position Responsibilities
Responsible for assisting with execution of the annual Compliance Risk Management (CRM) Risk Assessment, performing quarterly reporting and making enhancements to the current Risk Assessment process as necessary. The CRM Risk Assessment is used to inform bank leadership of compliance risk of various products and services offered by the Bank. Develop and produce complex ad hoc and automated departmental reports and spreadsheets to include but not limited to effectiveness of Compliance Program, and, quantity and status of compliance related issues.
Maintain policy, procedure and/or framework documents.
Provide direction on understanding risk assessment and reporting processes and output; Respond to inquiries from bank wide stakeholders as received.
Participate in the planning and implementation of new projects, products, programs, and plans to achieve short and long term business objectives; develop project plans.
Act as project leader in the execution of various complex and highly visible projects for the promotion and maintenance of the business.
Adhere to applicable compliance/operational risk controls in accordance with Company or regulatory standards and policies.
Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the M&T Bank brand.
Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.
Complete other related duties as assigned.

Nature and Scope
The position requires substantial interaction with both internal and external contacts in order to obtain pertinent information. The position acts as liaison between department and other business units on various projects.
The incumbent works independently under very limited supervision as well as a member or a project leader of a project team.
Serves as resource for junior employees.

Basic Qualifications
Bachelors’ degree or the equivalent in work experience with minimum five (5) years compliance or banking experience in an audit or operational risk management function, or seven (7) years general banking experience.
 
Ideal Qualifications Ability to interact effectively with all levels of personnel.
Ability to work independently and function as a member of a project team. Detail oriented.
Excellent knowledge of Windows and PC software programs. Minimum of 3 years banking industry experience.
Minimum 3 years prior departmental experience.
Highly skilled proficiency in the use of spreadsheet, database, graphing, presentation, and department specific software, with a working knowledge of financial models.
