Credit Policy Analyst I Credit Policy Administration Credit Division M&T Center Buffalo, NY
 
BASIC FUNCTION:
Responsible for organizing and controlling various aspects of M&T’s Credit Policy Manual to include but not limited to: drafting for review and further editing policy changes in a way that is clear, follows proper formatting, can be indexed and easily searchable. Play a support role as a member of a working group and approval committee(s) designed to shape and construct future credit policies of the bank. Conduct industry research and peer analysis and recommend changes in policy.


POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
Coordinate Credit Policy working groups and facilitate update/development of credit policies.
Conduct Credit Policy research and recommend industry best practices.
Develop analytics to support recommendations and updates to Credit Policy.
Prepare Credit Policy recommendations for approval.
Ensure Credit Policy maintenance (document updates and track and monitor change requests).
Draft communications of Credit Policy changes to stakeholders.
Assist with drafting training materials and annual updates.
Actively participate in various working groups and committees and provide recommendations to senior management.
Assist with the identification of credit policy controls and review of test scripts.
Support division initiatives to understand and mitigate impacts to credit administration resulting from current as well as enhanced policies. Work with the business line to ensure their awareness of risk-related issues and mitigation.
Understand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to
management.
Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the M&T Bank brand.
Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.
Complete other related duties as assigned.


NATURE AND SCOPE:
The position requires substantial interaction with both internal and external contacts in order to obtain pertinent information.
Under supervision, the position acts as liaison between department and other business units on various projects.
The incumbent works independently under limited supervision as well as a member of a project team.


MANAGERIAL/SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:
None


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Bachelor’s degree (English/Business/Communications) or related field and minimum of 2 years financial services experience including documenting policies and procedures or in lieu of degree, a combined minimum of 6 years higher education and/or work experience including 2 years financial services experience including documenting policies and procedures.
Previous experience drafting documents that with minimal editing can be presented and understood to higher authorities.
Ability to utilize software applicable to documenting policies and procedures.


IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED:
Experience with various bank systems.
Experience with the Commercial Bank process\\procedures and controls.
Proficient in the use of spreadsheet, database, graphing, presentation, and department specific software.
