Job Description

Basic Function: Provide credit risk analysis and reporting to support the second line of defense's process for independently identifying credit risks, monitoring for adherence to the bank's risk appetite, and providing recommendations for appropriate risk appetite limits.  
 
Responsibilities: Conduct analysis into the commercial credit portfolio to identify emerging risks and drivers of credit performance.  Review trending of credit metrics and conduct deeper analysis where warranted. Develop and implement the framework for managing commercial credit risk in the company through sound analytical processes, effective models, and guidance via appropriate policy and procedural recommendations. Develop and manage clear and relevant credit reporting and analysis to support data-driven decision making. Monitor portfolio concentrations it identify trends. Issue resolution and escalation as appropriate. Detail oriented and self-motivated. Able to assert ideas, encourage teamwork, and act as a role model when leading and directing others. Ability to motivate and influence staff outside of direct reporting line.
 
Basic Qualifications: Masters degree, or in lieu of degree six years in a risk/business quantitative position.  Minimum six years’ risk management, Finance or related experience.  Demonstrated expertise in advanced quantitative management tools.  Understanding of profitability and lending business dynamics.  Supervisory experience.  Experience leading cross-functional teams.   
Technical Skills: Advanced industry and/or functional expertise.  Excellent problem solving skills using creativity and innovation.  Superior quantitative skills.  Ability to formulate complex database problem solving approaches to business challenges.  Sophisticated knowledge of PC, Core Bank process systems, Database, and Network Capabilities.  Excellent verbal and written communication, cross-functional collaboration and management skills.  Ability to articulate ideas and develop alternative recommendations.  Ability to make effective presentations to all levels of the organization.  Maintain solid working relationships with senior management and business partners including product, credit, operations, asset management, credit bureaus, and vendors.M&T Bank Corporation is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.
