Position: Customer Service Representative

Hours: Full-time open availability is a must! Shifts will vary between the hours/days: 6:00am - 9:00pm Mon. - Fri. and Sat.- Sun. 9:00am - 5:00pm.

 
Basic Function:
Service customers' telephone requests for information regarding all deposit products, installment loans and credit cards. Cross-sell Bank products and services to incoming customer service callers to meet their needs and expand their overall relationship with M&T. Identify opportunities to suggest alternative Bank products or services to customers that better suit their needs, to contribute to customer retention.
 
Responsibilities:
Provide current rates, detailed product information, balances and other pertinent data regarding existing customer accounts. Provide customers with close out information relating to installment loans and credit card accounts. Open accounts, Maintain accounts, completing the appropriate paperwork, stopping payments, processing account freezes and transfers of funds. Service accounts by arranging direct deposits and automatic payment deductions at customers' requests. Assist customers by clarifying account problems, charges, and inquiries. Cross-sell bank products via telephone and fulfill mail requests in order to encourage account openings.
 
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED
One year of previous retail sales and/or customer service experience.
Excellent communication skills with concentration on telephone techniques.
Must be able to work a full-time schedule with a mix of days, nights, and weekends.
Must be able to complete a training class which can last 6-8 weeks.
Technology skills / requirements: candidate will need to be able to perform multiple tasks in various systems and demonstrate quick navigation skills on multiple screens.
 
Ideal Qualifications: Bachelor's degree preferred.
Telephone Customer Service experience is a big plus!
Familiarity with the Bank's computer systems and frequently used forms.
