Data and Analytics Analyst Buffalo, NY  
FUNCTION: The role is a intermediate-level position in data and analytics. A high aptitude for translating highly quantitative information to non-technical users, execution, and ability to manage multiple projects are keys to success in this role. The role will be responsible for quantitative analysis for assigned areas within supported line of business.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: • Moderate experience level in extracting, monitoring, evaluating, and interpreting data in order to communicate to line of business
• Assist in managing projects and initiatives under the guidance and direction from management or senior analyst(s)
• Introduce new tracking mechanisms for portfolio, strategy, or key performance indicator (KPI) results. Provide in-depth conclusions and insight into variances on drivers impacting trends. Perform moderately complex root cause analysis.
• Lead smaller initiatives by performing  moderately complex data manipulation, aggregation and statistical analysis while overseeing assigned aspect of project
• Gather requirements in order to perform queries with unestablished data sets that effectively represent the status of business performance.
• Compile and distribute new reports, dashboards and analysis based on unestablished processes and procedures in an automated fashion.
• Extract, translate, and load (ETL) data to create appropriate data structure in order to apply statistical analysis
• Lead discussion to establish key performance indicators with multiple lines of business
• Strong ability to illustrate business performance, mentoring, and statistical concepts through reporting and graphical representation.
• Identify deviations from forecast/expectations and explain variances. Identify risk and/or opportunities.
• Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.
• Adhere to applicable compliance/operational risk controls in accordance with Company or regulatory standards and policies.
• Complete other related duties as assigned.
 
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: Bachelors’ degree in Information Systems, Finance or Business or equivalent work experience, or in lieu of education four years of relevant experience.
Minimum ~three years’ experience required.
Excellent working knowledge of PC, client-server and mainframe systems.
Strong familiarity with Microsoft office and other software utilized by department.
Highly skilled in programming languages utilized by department.
Excellent organizational and analytical skills with attention to detail.
Strong development and implementation skills.
Strong decision making skills.
Ability to communicate important information and focus on clients’ requirements
Ability to work under tight time constraints, handle multiple tasks and work in team structure. 
General knowledge of departmental structure, products, processes, and operations.  
IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED: • Functional ETL knowledge. Grasp of architectural framework.
• 2 year experience with data extraction tool (SQL Server, Oracle, SAS, Teradata, etc.) and ETL (SQL Server Integration Studio, etc.) Similar applications will be considered.
• Advanced communications and presentation skills with ability to translate highly technical concepts to less technical managers and other professionals
• Able to analyze and draw conclusions based on large volumes of quantitative data from multiple sources. Ability to implement effective solutions.
• Works well independently
• Working knowledge of Tableau
• Meticulous attention to detail accompanied by strong organizational habits
• Professionals with less experience or skills than required will still be considered if aptitude is demonstrated.
