Job Description

Supports the development, implementation and execution of computer forensic operations and evidence preservation. Identifies potential operational concerns and proposes changes that reduce risk and optimize efficiency of the Digital Forensics team. Supports adjoining business lines in conjunction with confidential Legal, Human Resources and Compliance-related preservation, collection and/or investigation requests. Serves in leadership capacity by mentoring less experienced investigators.
Research and retrieve/preserve electronic data, inclusive of emails, in support of ongoing litigation, investigations and/or regulatory requirements.
Conduct forensic examinations of electronic equipment in support of ongoing litigation, investigations and/or regulatory requirements.
Ensure case requests within the team are progressing and deadlines are being met with proactive management and resolution of escalations.
Assist in promoting the overall mission of the Digital Forensic program through support of strategic initiatives designed to maintain the currency and viability of the program.
Work with all levels of Bank staff, including senior managers to discuss matters related to litigation, investigations and/or regulatory required activities.
Complete all activities, including those with colleagues and external authorities in a confidential and discrete manner to protect the information being worked with.
Manage periodic reviews and revisions to internal department policies and procedures, in accordance with the business plan to ensure their currency and to strengthen the depth and validity of the Digital Forensic program.
Serve as back-up support to management as required by absence.
Provide guidance and training to less experienced personnel and assist management in their development.
May manage software vendor relationships specific to the Digital Forensics team.
Adhere to applicable compliance/operational risk controls in accordance with Company or regulatory standards and policies.

Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.
Complete other related duties as assigned.
The position is responsible for end results of assigned responsibilities and providing input to planning, finances and policies within Digital Forensics. In carrying out these responsibilities the jobholder is required to exercise complex judgment based on advanced analytical thought.

Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 3 years’ professional experience, or in lieu of a degree a combined minimum of 7 years’ higher education and/or work experience, including a minimum of 3 years’ professional experience
Understanding of evidence handling procedures and archival processes
Advanced understanding of computer hardware and operating systems
Prior experience of quickly learning new technical skills
Experience in investigations capacity and/or handling confidential information
Demonstrated leadership skills
Digital Forensics certification(s)
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Security, Information Assurance or related discipline
Minimum of 5 years’ professional experience
In-depth knowledge of multiple divisions and industry as well as competitor strategies
Prior experience handling competing priorities in a successful manner
Ability to travel as required
