Director, Family Office Tax/Accounting Services Wilmington Trust Wilmington, DE  
FUNCTION: Responsible for overall management of assigned client accounts, acting as the lead and primary point of contact on the most complex issues and largest family relationships. Succession candidate to the Regional Director, involved in business development and establishing performance standards for Family Office staff. Position requires extensive travel.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible for overall management of assigned client accounts, taking the lead on more complex issues and largest family relationships. This includes but is not limited to: financial management services such as reviewing and/or approving payables and deposits in Data Faction; accounting services such as creating financial statements/GL preparation/cash flow analysis; tax services such as tax return preparation and tax planning.
In-depth knowledge of client relationship and ability to review client information and initiate discussion of additional services with client.
Works closely with Regional Managing Directors in acquiring new business, often attending meetings alone and/or substituting for RMD.
Effective communication skills and presentation techniques required to professionally represent the Wilmington Family Office.
Provides professional development to less experienced managers; expected to share knowledge and expertise, assists and instructs when dealing with more complex issues, provides feedback on business cases won and lost, and sets the standards for the office in relation to attendance and attitude.
Along with Regional Managing Directors, works with the other service line managers to properly align and build the service groups offered to clients, ensure streamlining of staffing resources with profitability, and evaluates all new ideas and technologies introduced to the WFO.
Fully understands the goals and strategies of the WFO and able to communicate them effectively to Family Office professional staff. Provides input on policies and procedures and ensures compliance.
Manages risk by keeping abreast of all regulatory updates and views relationships with an understanding of legal and auditing issues.
Exercise usual authority of a manager concerning staffing, performance appraisals, promotions, salary recommendations, performance management and terminations.
Adhere to applicable compliance/operational risk controls in accordance with Company or regulatory standards and policies.
Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the M&T Bank brand.
Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and
external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.
Complete other related duties as assigned.
NATURE AND SCOPE: Responsible for overall management of assigned client accounts, acting as the lead and primary point of contact on the most complex issues and largest family relationships.
MANAGERIAL/SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: Manages the development of professional staff by providing mentoring, coaching, feedback, and reinforcement on an ongoing basis.
Fosters the attitudes, conditions and environments that yield improved quality and quantity of work to maximize the performance of each staff member under supervision.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Taxation and a minimum 15 years’ public accounting experience, or in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 19 years’ higher education and/or work experience including a minimum of 15 years’ public accounting experience.
Minimum 10 years supervisory experience.
Family Office or Financial Planning firm experience.
Highly skilled in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) and able to rapidly learn new software applications.
High level of understanding of taxation, investment, and planning issues.
Strong analytical skills.
Ability to interpret financial statements.
Ability to present in front of groups of various sizes and have strong verbal and written communication skills.
Strong interpersonal skills.
Experience with investment oversight, manager selection, and use of private equity, hedge fund and derivative structures.
