Basic Function
The Employee Benefits Relationship Manager II position is responsible for the ongoing satisfaction of key clients while employing strategies to increase profitability and retention.  Strategies include increasing assets within accounts, expansion of the relationship through additional product sales and more efficient servicing.  Serve as the primary geographic contact to preferred partner vendors and coordinate the delivery of related services.
Responsibilities
Develop in conjunction with the PCS Regional Manager, an internal formal relationship plan for each client.  This relationship plan will allow you to efficiently update on an annual basis the Client Profile (details the key contacts and decision-makers at the client, the background of the relationship, reference-ability, risks and profitability), cross-sell opportunities, risk management strategy & fee analysis and service plan  (formal plan for timing and frequency of visits and contacts, minimum standards for number of calls, formal introduction of MTIG experts and specialists and plan specific strategies).  Coordination of team (Relationship Managers 2) to retain, expand and cross-sell services and enhance and expand existing relationships. Conducting formal meetings and conference calls will be expected to review and implement regional strategies.

 

Maintain M&T's service standards by performing the following for key clients:
Responsible for a minimum of three onsite visits per year involving key client decision makers and include investment reviews; plan review, education strategy, and fee review.  Six to nine phone contacts per year to monitor service; complete emails of industry-related content.  Develop a formal business plan jointly with the client and may include identified plan goals (i.e., increased participation or deferral rates), the addition of various plan features (i.e., automatic enrollment/escalation, Roth, safe-harbor), development of a formal participant education strategy, implement a formal communication program to drive increases assets, etc.  Quarterly review of investments; notification of watch list funds as appropriate.  Perform an annual plan review, plan features, asset allocation, and fees (with client).  Ensure through a compliance review client is documenting fiduciary practices, IPS is in place, plan document is current, etc.  One entertainment event every 18 months.  When handling new business, you will participate in finals presentations as requested by Sales Officer, oversee transition and conversion of assets to new providers, and facilitate the collection of any required documents and contracts.


To successfully manage risk for the company, you will perform annual internal account review to include capacity, pricing, contribution and application administration (testing, form 5500, etc.), and document review.  Ensure adherence to applicable M&T Securities and Trust procedures and policies.  Remain current with relevant industry regulations.  Provide Internal management notification of at-risk clients.  This position will be an integral team player whose emphasis is on client service and cross selling.  The position requires extensive travel with multiple region relationship responsibility.  The position has oversight and coach / mentor responsibility for the Relationship Manger 1 position.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or in lieu of degree four to five years relevant business experience.  Minimum five years employee benefits experience.  Series 6 or 7, 63 and state insurance licenses.  Proficient personal computer skills with a solid knowledge of Microsoft Office.  Understanding of defined contribution, defined benefit and non-qualified plans as well as other group benefit arrangements.  Proven ability to work independently, function effectively within a team environment, and react to change in a positive and productive manner.  Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to present effectively to all levels of management at the client.  Excellent planning and organizational abilities, including the ability to manage multiple tasks, anticipate and set priorities, and to apply sound business judgment to tasks and decision-making.  Travel as required in order to service the multi region relationships.
