Fiduciary Tax Accountant IV Wilmington Trust Wilmington, DE  
Basic Function:
Prepares complex fiduciary and personal income tax returns, gift, generation-skipping transfer tax returns, exempt organization returns and advises others regarding same.
Sets up and maintains all necessary records and information pertinent to the taxes on investment accounts, trust accounts, and exempt organizations.
Reviews all assigned account transactions to systematically build an accurate fiduciary income tax return.
Analyzes tax planning options available to trusts, computes and compares the income, gift and/or generation-skipping transfer tax consequences thereof, and advises the trust administrators and the beneficiaries of the best course of action.
Reviews trust agreements, prepares and files fiduciary returns, and represents the Bank in audits before the taxing authorities.
Prepares and files complex personal income tax returns for clients, advises them on related tax matters, and represents them in audits.
Prepares and files exempt organization returns and represents the organizations in audits before the taxing authorities.
Maintains an awareness of all relevant tax rules.
Performs related duties as required, including preparing various internal reports and answering a variety of questions concerning tax liability, deductions, and related issues.
Will be expected to participate in training both inside and outside the department, as well as aid in the training of more junior staff.
-Would be expected to teach in-house training for staff.
-Would be expected to function as a 'second in command' to the group leader within the group.
-Will be responsible for an assigned book of trust accounts made up of the more difficult accounts. Will prepare form 1041 and needed schedules. The accountant would be expected to be able to work independently.
-May be assigned Private Foundation, Public Charities or Estates to work on in an independent manner.
-Will have a complex personal tax return assignment as well as training more junior members of the department with individual tax returns for 1040 and related schedules
-As part of working on their assignment, the candidate will need to review tax coding of transactional data.
-Prepare all necessary tax estimates for their accounts
-Respond to taxing authority notices.
-Take charge of the large family relationships as the head of a team working on those accounts.
-The candidate would be expected to fully participate in client discussions around planning and other issues.
-The candidate would also start to be introduced to the process of helping on Client pitches that involve the tax department.

Minimum Qualifications Required:
•         Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business related field or in lieu of degree four years relevant trust tax preparation experience.

•         Minimum five years of relevant experience.
•         Excellent PC skills with a thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office to include Excel, Word and Access.
•         Experience preparing 1041 tax returns, required.
•         Complex analytical and problem solving skills.
•         Strong interpersonal communication skills
•         Ability to interface with clients over the phone and through email
•         Demonstrated oral and written communication skills.
•         Excellent organizational skills.
•         Team player
•         Ability to work under time constraints while maintaining accuracy.
Ideal Qualifications Preferred:
•         Bachelor's degree in Accounting
•         CPA, EA (Enrolled Agent) or Masters degree in taxation preferred
•         Knowledge of One Source trust tax software and/or TrustEase software preferred.
•         Experience working in a bank tax department, preferred
