Basic Function:
Responsible for the management, planning and coordination of the Accounting/Analyst staff within the assigned unit. Exercises managerial authority over staff.

Manages all daily operational and project activities for assigned unit.  Directs day-to-day operations and projects relating to the Bank's financial status for assigned unit.  Oversees ad hoc reporting to support management decisions.  Participates in the development and implementation of department goals.  Communicates with all levels of management regarding fiscal policies and provide direction in the implementation of these policies.  The position will manage a team of financial analysts and accounting associate level personnel, exercising the usual managerial authority over staff with respect to hiring, termination, salary recommendations, and performance appraisals.  Contribute to the development of staff & supervisors to aid them in performing their regular duties and responsibilities.  Develop & promote strong capabilities in work paper preparation & documentation, data verification and proofreading.  Performs other related assignments as requested by management.  The incumbent is responsible for an assigned accounting area of a Division.  Working under low supervision, this position interacts with internal contacts within COE or other M&T departments; external contact with bank examiners and auditors.

Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Business related field. 
Three years finance, accounting or audit experience. 
Minimum of one year in a supervisory position. 
Solid knowledge of personal computers and the software programs utilized in department. 
Demonstrated knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite and departmental software. 
Moderate analytical and problem-solving skills. 
This position requires a highly flexible, reliable individual with a strong work ethic and customer services skills.   
Strong interpersonal skills are required with the ability to set examples for others.  
Excellent written and verbal communication skills and good organizational skills. 
Knowledge of GAAP. 
Ideal Qualifications:
MBA or Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
CPA preferred. 
Six plus years' accounting / finance experience with a financial institution, a demonstrated knowledge of banking and three (3) years in a supervisory position. 
Advanced use of MS Excel.
