Basic Function:
Responsible for the management, planning and coordination of the Accounting/Analyst staff within the assigned unit. Exercises managerial authority over staff.

Primary Responsibilities:
Manages all daily operational and project activities for assigned unit. The position will manage a team of financial analysts, ensuring the staff completes financial statements timely, accurately and in adherence to applicable accounting standards and the unit's internal procedures for all clients assigned. Responsible for developing & promoting strong capabilities in work paper preparation, documentation, data verification and delivery to the clients. Onboard new client accounts and complete accounting for more technical accounts as required. Oversight responsibility for the unit's time entry and analyses, including ensuring the staff time is accurately recorded and that the client billings are properly completed.  Responsible for initial training and development of staff to aid them in performing their regular duties and responsibilities. Participates in the development and implementation of department goals.  Communicates with management regarding fiscal policies and provide direction in the implementation of these policies.   Exercise the usual managerial authority over staff with respect to hiring, termination, salary recommendations, and performance appraisals.  Performs other related assignments as requested by management.   Working under low supervision, this position interacts with internal contacts within M&T departments; external contact with clients, banks, and auditors.  
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Business related field.  Three to five years finance, accounting or audit experience.  Minimum of one year in a supervisory position.  Solid knowledge of personal computers and the software programs utilized in department.  Demonstrated knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite and departmental software.  Moderate analytical and problem-solving skills.  This position requires a highly flexible, reliable individual with a strong work ethic and customer services skills.  M&T needs a demonstrated team player that possesses the ability to make decisions while working under pressure.  Strong interpersonal skills are required with the ability to set examples for others. .  Lead cross training activities.  Excellent written and verbal communication skills and good organizational skills.  Knowledge of GAAP.  Maintains a professional appearance.   Ideal Qualifications:
MBA or Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance. CPA preferred.  Six plus years' accounting / finance experience with a financial institution, a demonstrated knowledge of banking and three (3) years in a supervisory position.  Advanced use of MS Excel.
