Job Description

Function:
Provide technical experience to ensure compliance with a Federal Reserve Requirement surrounding the calculation the allowance as required by CECL (Current Expected Credit Losses).  Serve as a key contributor to the process for effective CECL implementation and governance; as well develop technological solutions to assist with the periodic calculation.   Interact with personnel from various business lines and functional departments within the organization, including various business lines as well as individuals from technology.

 Participate on a team that develops and sustains processes for complying with Federal Reserve, SEC and Bank regulations and requirements.

 
Responsibilities:
Assist in a broad range of activities related to capital planning and liquidity management reporting and analysis, including calculation of the allowance as required by CECL.  Develop, monitor and enhance technological solution to execute data quality rules.

Assist in documentation of technical lineage of data used in the creation of the values required by CECL.

Design, implement, maintain and enhance controls to mitigate risk on an ongoing basis. Identify risk-related issues requiring escalation to management.

Develop and maintain strong working relationships with individuals throughout the organization, including assigned business lines and representatives from Technology

Partner with other members of Risk Management, Finance, Treasury and Technology to efficiently provide services to internal customers.  Serve as a subject matter expert and advisor with respect to capital planning and CECL.

Understand and adhere to M&T’s risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with our approved Risk Appetite. 

Interact with specific departments of the Bank such as Corporate Tax, Accounting Policy, Corporate Reporting, Credit Model Risk, Financial Reporting Systems, SBU Support group, Corporate Services, Central Balancing, Adjustment Services and others to resolve problems and issues, streamline processes, set policies and procedures, and ensure compliance with internal controls, in particular as they relate to Sarbanes-Oxley objectives.

Adhere to applicable compliance/operational risk controls in accordance with Company or regulatory standards and policies.

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Finance or Business related field and a minimum of 3 years’ relevant work experience

Complex analytical and problem solving skills

Proficient PC skills with a thorough knowledge of spreadsheet, word processing and database software Strong oral and written communication skills

Ability to work under time constraints while maintaining accuracy


Preferred Qualifications:

MBA and/or CPA

Financial institution experience

Thorough knowledge of departmental software Demonstrated team player and work leadership skills

Ability to analyze financial data and identify trends, variations or other factors for further investigation Ability to quickly learn various application systems to readily understand output from those systems

Ability to clearly organize work and thoughts to efficiently complete assigned tasks, including working on several tasks or projects simultaneously
