Job Description

Conduct technical analysis, forecasting, and research projects to support M&T’s semi-annual capital planning and stress testing efforts, including its Comprehensive Capital Analysis & Review (CCAR) and Dodd-Frank Act Stress Test (DFAST) submissions, as well as connections to other short-term and longer term financial projections for the Company.


Aggregate and analyze financial forecasts from modeling teams and business line leadership to gain organizational consensus on the Company’s expected financial performance under a range of macroeconomic scenarios.

Analyze, present, and report on the Company’s detailed balance sheet, income statement, and regulatory capital forecasts.  

Partner with appropriate divisions and functions for development of financial models/tools, systems, and methodologies used for stress test, capital plan, operating plan, and other multiyear forecasts.

Develop research and analyses of industry and peer bank data; keep apprised of regulatory and industry developments affecting capital planning, stress testing, and best practices in budgeting and planning.

Forecast and analyze components of the Company’s regulatory capital levels and risk-weighted assets for its CCAR and bi-annual stress test submissions.

Completion and submission of the Company’s bi-annual FR Y-14A forward-looking financial statements and capital plan narrative to the Federal Reserve.  

Build and maintain financial forecasting models; work in collaboration with business groups to provide insightful analysis.

Conduct independent research and complex analytical projects involving modeling/forecasting to provide senior management with definitive financial trend data and advice for their use in setting and realizing profit objectives.

Perform ad hoc reporting such as acquisition analyses, cash flow projections, etc. to support management decisions.

Understand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.

Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the M&T Bank brand.

Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.

Complete other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelors’ degree in Finance or Accounting and a minimum of 5 years related experience or in lieu of a degree a combined minimum of 9 years higher education including 5 years related experience

Ideal Qualifications:
Strong technical aptitude and advanced financial modeling skills.
