Job Description

Position Overview:
Responsible for the design, development, and maintenance of web based training courses. Produces training targeted to
meet client needs using a variety of instructional design techniques and technologies.
 
Key Responsibilities:
Work with Sr. Instructional Designers, Performance Consultants, and Subject Matter Experts to conduct business
needs analyses to develop overall curriculum goals, requirements, and specific course/learning objectives to develop
synchronous instructor-lead and asynchronous/blended web-based trainings.
Design and develop plans, text, graphics, animations, simulations, and tests or assessment instruments for E-Learning
courses and integrates these artifacts into a final course deliverable. The instructional designer should use proven
instructional design techniques and adult learning methodologies to create courses that adhere to M&T Learning and
Development quality standards.
Design and develop plans and training documents for in-person classroom training courses.
Create and manage project schedules to ensure that all milestone requirements are met to achieve successful product
delivery and to mitigate project-related constraints or risks.
Understand and adhere to the company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the
organizations risk appetite. Design, implement, maintain and enhance internal controls to mitigate risk on an ongoing
basis. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.
Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with
any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.
Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the M&T Bank brand.
Complete other related duties as assigned.
 
Minimum Qualifications Required:
Bachelors’ degree certificate in instructional design or related field with 3 years’ experience in training and development
or instructional design or related experience or in lieu of degree a combined minimum of 7 years higher education and
work experience to include a minimum of 3 years’ experience in training and development or instructional design or
related experience.
Advanced technical writing and editing skills.
Excellent oral communication and interpersonal skills.
Critical thinking, analysis, and synthesis skills.
Skills in planning, organizing, and self-management.
Ability to work collaboratively and creatively in a deadline driven environment.
Manage multiple projects at different stages, while meeting deadlines and quality standards.
Proficient in software utilized in department to include Microsoft Office.
Experience with Learning Management Systems.
Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud: Dream Weaver, Photoshop, Premiere Pro, and After Effects.
 
Ideal Qualifications Preferred:
Advanced degree in instructional design or curriculum design.
ATD certification.
Experience in training and development, technology, financial and banking services.
Ability to write and edit scripts for media production.
Experience with Captivate and Articulate.
Flexibility to work in an agile team structure.
Ensures writing is coherent and appropriate for the intended target audience.
Ensures directions for assignments and navigation are clear and appropriate for the intended audience.
Assures all course components are complete and uploaded into LMS.
Provides oversight of work performed by external vendors as needed.
Ability to learn applicable products, systems and workflows.
Strong interpersonal skills necessary for business partner relationships within and outside organization.
