Job Description

BASIC FUNCTION: Supports the development, implementation, and execution of computer forensic operations and evidence preservation.  Identifies potential operational concerns, proposes changes that reduce risk and optimize efficiency of the entire digital Forensics team.  Supports adjoining business lines in investigations that leads to supportable and reliable outcomes.   POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
•         At a high level, understands the function and content of information security policies, standards, procedures, and practices as well as threats, risks and vulnerabilities at a functional level;
•         Maintains currency in understanding changes in policy, standards, regulatory and governance compliance requirements related to their area;
•         With assistance from more senior team members, conducts periodic reviews and revisions to internal department policies and procedures, and in accordance with the business plan;
•         Assists in documentation efforts to strengthen the depth and validity of the Digital Forensic program; 
•         Continually bridges connections and builds rapport between departments, Bank-wide and in a service oriented manner;
•         Works with all levels of Bank staff, including senior managers;
•         Conducts forensic examinations;
•         Conducts email preservation activities;
•         Works in a confidential and discrete manner with colleagues and external authorities;
•         Works under general supervision of Digital Forensic Manager or Senior Forensic Specialist while being afforded some opportunity to exercise independent judgment and discretion;
•         This function is critical to the corporation's ability to meet regulatory, legal, and risk mitigation requirements and to reduce the risk of fine/penalties resulting from non-compliance that would impact profitability;
•         Assists with documenting and communicating proposed new approaches, methods, technologies, or breakthroughs in area of expertise;
•         Interacts with various internal and external audit/regulatory examination personnel;
•         Represent the Digital Forensic team on committees/projects as assigned;
•         Understands how own team fits into the structure of M&T Bank;
•         Understands some operations and compliance regulations.
•         Unwavering ethical judgment;
•         May direct activities of projects, but does not have direct supervisory responsibilities.   BASIC QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
•         Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Assurance or related discipline and a minimum of 2 years professional experience, or in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 6 years higher education and/or work experience including a minimum of 2 years professional experience
•         Basic understanding of basic evidence handling procedures 
•         Basic understanding of computer hardware and operating systems
•         Demonstrated high aptitude for complex problem analysis and resolution
•         Capable of quickly learning new technical skills
•         Ability to travel to parts of the Bank footprint to carry out job duties   IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED:
•         Minimum of 2 years professional experience in cyber security or information technology
•         Demonstrated principled work practices and sound professional ethics
•         General understanding of Bank systems and processes
•         EnCE, ACE, CFCE, or related certification
•         Prior experience in a technically intensive role
•         Prior experience in a regulated environment
•         Prior experience in forensic examinations (private industry or law enforcement)
•         Ability to work well as a member of a team
•         Ability to handle several activities simultaneously in an organized fashion
•         Sound problem-solving skills
•         Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills
•         Detail-oriented
