Job Description

Title: Lead Commercial Internal Communications Associate

Location: M&T Center, Buffalo NY

Basic Function
As key member of the Commercial Sales Enablement Team, this individual oversees the setting and implementing of comprehensive internal communications strategies for Commercial Bank employees to support achievement of key priorities and business line objectives.  He or she coordinates the communication process and messaging to the Commercial Bank from all stakeholders, using standard Commercial distribution channels and platforms, including the Hub, Insider, SAVO, Outlook email, and select Commercial Bank meetings/calls.


Position Responsibilities
  • Serve as primary internal communications consultant for senior leadership, Commercial Planning, Commercial Risk, Commercial Product, and special project teams.
  • Engage and collaborate with communication partners from Business Banking, Credit, Corporate Marketing/Communications and other divisions to align messaging and drive efficiency.
  • Recommend, develop and execute detailed Commercial internal communication plans for priority projects, in partnership with Subject Matter Experts from within Commercial and across the Bank.
  • Write and edit product bulletins, memos and other BAU communications.
  • Establish and implement communication standards in accordance with M&T Brand Guidelines and internal Commercial Bank guidelines.
  • Prioritize and assign incoming internal communication requests based on resources, urgency, and relative importance.
  • Maintain/update Commercial Bank intranet content (Insider).
  • Secure and document approvals for all communications prior to publishing.
  • Handle logistics for all calls and meetings, including scheduling speakers.
  • Maintain and update Commercial internal communication templates, as well as templates for internal tools, resources and other supplementary materials related to communications.
  • Conduct formal and informal trainings for internal business partners on internal communication processes and effective communication techniques.
  • Oversee junior member(s) of Sales Enablement Team in development and editing of internal communications.
  • Review and make recommendations on external client-facing communications, marketing materials and sales collateral as requested.
  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of the Commercial sales organization, including stages of the sales cycle and the tools sales reps use on a daily basis. Keep abreast of business and market trends that may affect the business/department.
  • Lead continuous improvement of existing processes and/or development of new processes.
  • Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the M&T Bank brand.
  • Complete other related duties as assigned.

Nature and Scope:
The position establishes and manages the overall communications strategy for the Commercial Bank, continually executing on this strategy in line with division and Bankwide priorities and initiatives.

 

Managerial/Supervisory Responsibility:
May serve as direct supervisor for junior member of Sales Enablement team.


Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in business related field, or the equivalent in experience.
  • Five (5) years relevant experience.
  • Five (5) years banking industry experience preferred.
  • Three (3) years previous supervisory/management experience preferred.
  • Highly skilled proficiency in the use of spreadsheets, graphing, and presentations with a working knowledge of financial models.
  • Excellent knowledge of Windows and PC software programs.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical ability and creative problem solving skills.
  • Ability to interact effectively with all levels of personnel.
  • Excellent project management skills.
IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED:
  • Ability to prioritize effectively based on the activities that will receive the greatest return.
  • Sound creative judgment and analytical ability.
  • Holistic thinker who understands and effectively communicates how individual projects and communications fit into larger M&T and Commercial Bank vision.
  • Working knowledge of applicable banking laws.
  • Graphic design skills, including understanding of how to use imagery effectively to support communication goals.
  • Proficiency with HTML and software programs utilized by department, including SAVO, SharePoint, Adobe Dreamweaver, InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop.
