Lead ServiceNow Application Developer

THE OPPORTUNITY:
Lead ServiceNow Application Developer needed to lead efforts around business application development using the ServiceNow Now platform. This position will create business service applications with minor workflow components for various business units.
Responsible for the management of all activities related to the successful planning, documenting, testing and implementation of all work performed by the team, whether by the request of the client, internal to the department or the result of a problem relating to an application. Provides detailed direction and performs specialized analysis and research of systems modifications to solve any scope problem or enhancement.
 
POSITION RESPONSIBILITES:
  • Lead solution design activities within the ServiceNow business applications team.
  • Working with business units to assess processes for possible deployment within ServiceNow.
  • Organizing and prioritizing development effort
  • Create, document, design, develop, and integrate applications using the ServiceNow platform following ServiceNow best practices
  • Develop solutions across the ServiceNow platform to utilize automation and integration capabilities of ServiceNow, focused on leveraging business services with out of the box capabilities
  • Provide technical coaching and oversight to other developers
  • Lead and direct software development and testing.
Manages and oversees the execution of project plans for any scope; ensures adherence to all department and technology standards and procedures, including all documentation requirements.

Assigns resources and monitors progress of all assignments; ensures completion of schedules. Responsible for short and long term FTE planning.

Performs and oversees application development and supports testing efforts, including the review of specifications, preparation and execution of testing; may be called upon to coordinate the completion of integrated testing efforts.

Translates requirements to assist staff in preparing detailed specifications for system enhancements. Recommends designs based on business requirements. Identifies issues and concerns.

Ability to act as a client liaison to review priorities and manage the overall client queue. Builds rapport within the organization. Effectively communicates and develops a professional level of cooperation across the organization.

Maintains efficient operation and effectiveness of supported applications. Recommends new technology, policies or processes to benefit the organization and improve deficiencies. Typically will lead technical evaluations of vendor software.
Completes status reports and must be able to present projects, status or activities to senior management.

Demonstrates a strong understanding of the business environment and needs within the area of responsibility. Ability to understand technical, business and operational impacts of a project or problem.

Responsible for the job growth and career development of staff members by providing training plans, guidance and sharing knowledge.

Responsible for performance appraisals, promotion and salary recommendations.
Must be able to contribute to the development of a cost center budget.
Recommends and initiates new policies and procedures which will improve the performance and effectiveness of the department.


MANAGERIAL/SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBLITY:
The Technical Team Leader manages a team of approximately 3 employees.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIRED:
Minimum of two to four years college with at least ten years experience in project related work, systems analysis and a systems development environment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Prior management experience required.

Requires a complete understanding of the system development life cycle.
Experience with the skills, application(s) and functions of the technology area being led preferred.
Requires familiarity with application development support software and hardware platforms.
Ability to effectively use project management, word processing and spreadsheet applications.
Very good problem solving skills to assist in issue resolution.
Good understanding of the Bank’s application framework.
Familiar with application development software and hardware platforms.
Able to lead design and specification walkthroughs.
Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to effectively present to the target audience.
Requires excellent analytical, organization, time, and quality management skills, strong judgment, and the ability to work effectively with clients and IT management and staff personnel.
Detail oriented and uses sound judgment.
Must be able to assert ideas and gain support and commitment from others.
Must be proactive.
Ability to handle multiple tasks.
Self motivated and able to motivate others.
Encourages teamwork and acts as a role model when leading and directing others.
Aware of the Bank’s business plan and strategic objectives.

TECHNICAL EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
  • 6 years of relevant experience in software development and architecture
  • 2 years’ experience of ServiceNow development and / or ServiceNow implementation • Good track-record of developing large-scale, multi-tier applications
  • Experienced working in an agile/iterative environment
  • Demonstrates prior completion of ServiceNow applications for business management (this position is not focused on ITSM activities)
  • Demonstrates expert knowledge of ServiceNow toolset and integrations with related systems
  • Demonstrated leader with team-oriented interpersonal skills; ability to effectively interface with a broad range of people and roles with ability to deal with ambiguity
  • Strong experience developing, releasing, and maintaining software solutions
  • Experienced in Cloud services, PaaS and application of those services.


IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED:
Bachelor’s degree preferred.
