Job Description

Position Overview: 
Responsible for managing the training needs of the Commercial and Credit divisions of the Bank. Will work with the senior management within those business lines to determine and implement effective training solutions that close performance gaps and directly impact improved job performance and better achievement of bank goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Work with business line leadership to identify key priorities and ways in which those business priorities can be achieved through learning solutions.
Develop excellent working relationships with executive and senior level management across assigned business lines and effectively communicate the scope and value of the L&D function in empowering high preforming teams across the organization.
Utilize the L&D consulting framework, together with appropriate consulting tools and techniques to facilitate quality, consistent, business unit engagement.
Conduct, needs assessments and trend analyses required to develop strategic learning plans across assigned business lines, ensuring alignment with business priorities, goals, and activities.
Review and analyze business plans & results, market factors and industry trends to identify learning problems, root causes and other solutions to business needs and shortcomings.
Collaborate with senior business leaders and HRBPs to develop medium term (18-24 month), strategic and tactical learning plans to achieve business objectives and focus on opportunities to drive improved performance.
Work with business areas to select appropriate measurement and evaluation strategies. Leverage LMS data, as well as HR and business line performance metrics to demonstrate learning outcomes, and value to the business. Prepare analysis to report ROI of learning opportunities to the organization.
Work with business line management to ensure that appropriate emphasis is placed on sustainment and reinforcement of learning events.
Manage multiple internal projects and/or client engagements simultaneously. Manage project plans and budgets to achieve optimal learning impact, aligned with business priorities.
Partner with L&D leadership, and in particular the Content Design and Development and Ops & Analytics teams, to prioritize creation and delivery of learning solutions to meet business needs.
Develop a working knowledge of assigned business areas, to understand how learning initiatives can be linked to improving business and individual performance.
Establish governance within assigned business lines to ensure priority training needs have learning resources properly aligned.
Work with embedded training units within business lines to establish the optimal model to meet the training needs of the business.
Understand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite.
Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.
Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.
Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the M&T Bank brand.
Complete other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications Required:
Bachelor’s degree with concentration in Human Resources or applicable field, plus a minimum of 5 years’ relevant business experience, or in lieu of a degree, a combined 9 years’ higher education and/or work experience, with a minimum of 5 years’ relevant business experience.
Fluent public speaking skills and presentation experience to senior audiences.
Ability to travel up to 35%.
Ideal Qualifications Preferred:
Masters of Business Administration (MBA) or other Advanced Degree preferred.
Prior Commercial and/or Credit experience.
Prior Learning and Development experience.
Supervisory/management experience.
Track record of delivering practical recommendations and solutions.
Experience in strategic planning and project management.
Proven success in effectively influencing senior leaders.
Expresses views clearly and logically, both verbally and in writing.
Commands the respect of peers, internal and external clients.
Comfortable working in a flexible and dynamic team environment.
Highly motivated; demonstrates a willingness and ability to learn quickly and apply this knowledge in practice.
Ability to make decisions independently.
