Job Description

Basic Function:

Responsible for all marketing activities for assigned department or business. Oversee the conceptualization, development, execution and evaluation of marketing and communication programs designed to meet business objectives of M&T Bank Corporation business unit managers, while reinforcing the bank’s brand identity.

Essential Position Responsibilities:

Manage the process to project manage and execute assigned marketing and/or communication campaign projects from conceptualization through execution and implementation.

Leverages multiple marketing platforms including e-mail (Sales Force Marketing Cloud), video, online, social, web / phone conference, etc. to maximize content’s impact in pursuit of our business objectives. 

Evaluate campaign for effectiveness in meeting business objectives.  Analyze results of marketing campaigns and develop recommendations based upon campaign results.  

Serve as a subject matter expert and central point of contact for business lines and regional contacts who are engaging the content execution office team and process. 

Independently lead special project teams that are primarily focused on solving for Marketing and Communications operational gaps taking ownership and ensuring the project remains on schedule and meets identified objectives.  

Identify, research and make improvement recommendations for operational gaps and process/procedure stumbling blocks. 

May have managerial authority over staff with respect to hiring, termination, staffing, performance appraisals, and salary recommendations.

Nature and Scope:

The position is responsible for both providing business units with effective marketing and communication execution to enable businesses to meet objectives and reinforcing the bank’s brand identity and leading projects to improve operational concerns. 

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent in work experience. 

A minimum of five years experience in managing marketing campaigns in a client or agency environment. 

Experience managing an advertising and or direct marketing agency relationship. 


Technical Skills:

Excellent PC skills with proficiency in software programs utilized by department. 

Copy writing and editing proficiency. 


Ideal Qualifications:

Project and time management skills. 

Sound creative judgement with advertising or direct marketing production knowledge. 

Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment with deadlines.

Familiarity with Agile Marketing a plus.

Digital and Media planning knowledge. 

Excellent written, verbal and negotiation communication skills. 

Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interact professionally with all levels of management. 

Working knowledge of applicable banking laws.
