FUNCTION:
Responsible for providing complex, non-routine analytical, technical and operational support at the business or department level.  May act as project leader on less complex but highly visible projects.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
The position is responsible for support in a variety of functions to include but not limited to the following:
  • Ensure all supporting processes are in place to sell a product, including systems set up, (Compass, Subscribe, M&O).
  • Communicate product changes quickly / efficiently.
  • Coordinate / prioritize product activities in line with revenue goals.
  • Act as primary conduit for Strategic Partners on operational and processing issues:
  • Liaison between Home Office and partner teams on problem resolution.
  • Understand, uphold, and monitor MTS expectations and standards for Strategic Partners.
  • Assist in preparation for partner meetings.
  • Escalation point for Home Office issues that need to be addressed with partners/Product Managers.
  • Document and keep updated the procedures for approving new products and partners.  Create and manage a central repository for documents.  Work with internal resources to design & implement central web page for MTS teams (Home Office, Sales) to view procedures and strategy for managing the Product menu and partners.
  • Proactively monitor & assist in managing risk to the firm associated with the current and historical product menu.
  • Support Product Manager in monitoring media, news, and other sources about partners & Products.
    • Consider credit risk and other underlying business issues.
    • Historical & current partners.
    • Communicate carrier press & response as applicable.
    • Engage MTS Product Committee when needed.
  • Assist in reporting and monitoring AUM/partner concentrations.
  • Invoice and coordinate partner sponsorships.  Track revenue share.
  • Direct selling and servicing agreements through compliance and legal.  Image and catalogue agreements.
  • Assist in maintenance of standard due diligence process for MTS.
  • Assist in conducting due diligence review of current and prospective partners for core retail menu.
  • Assist in rollout of new products and maintenance of ongoing training.
  • Assist Product Management/Sales Management with planning of partner-sponsored events/meetings.
  • Attend MTS Product Committee Meetings, take minutes, and assist in preparation for meetings.
  • Assist in maintenance of Web Trading site.
  • Manage product changes by ensuring proper communication and training:
  • Identify trends in product changes that are regulatory/risk related.
  • Educate the firm on these trends.
  • Summarize product changes and write weekly bulletins/communications to be distributed to the field/Home Office.
  • Monitor product changes and impact to NAIC training requirements.
  • Maintain & post information/tools for the field, such as wholesaler contacts, marketing material approvals, product descriptions.
  • Work with internal teams to make updates to Annuity Rate Board.
  • Update intranet site for product changes, news.
  • Understand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite.  Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.
  • Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the M&T Bank brand.
  • Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.
  • Complete other related duties as assigned.
NATURE AND SCOPE:
The position requires substantial interaction with both internal and external contacts in order to obtain pertinent information. 
The position may act as liaison between department and other business units on various projects.
The incumbent works independently under very limited supervision as well as a member or a project leader of a project team.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Bachelor’s degree in an applicable field (i.e. Business, Finance, Statistics, Marketing, MIS) or the equivalent in work experience.
Five to seven years’ experience in field.
Minimum two years’ prior departmental experience.
Skilled proficiency in the use of spreadsheet, database, graphing, presentation, and department specific software, with a working knowledge of financial models.
Excellent knowledge of Windows and PC software programs.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Strong analytical ability and creative problem solving skills.
Ability to interact effectively with all levels of personnel.
Ability to work independently and function as a member of a project team.
Ability to function as a project leader.
Detail oriented.

IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED:
Understands basics of investment & insurance products.  Familiar with MTS product mix across Packaged Product Lines, including Annuities, Mutual Funds, Insurance, UITs, Structured Products, Managed Accounts.
