Function:
Manager of a mid-sized team or multiple small teams. Primarily focused on supervisory duties; however, the manager is often still involved in reviewing/approving work of the team and jumping in for coverage when necessary. Responsible for the management and coordination of assigned staff within the MTS Brokerage Shared Services organization. Supervises a team of professionals which may include some managers and provides technical, functional and operational support within MTS Brokerage Shared Services. Application of analytical, financial services industry, technical, or accounting/financial management concepts. Provides support in the form of transactional processing, risk and control monitoring, reconciliation, problem resolution research. Responsibility and independent latitude for problem research and analysis. Responsible for coaching and developing staff. Must have strong decision making, communication, and partnerships capabilities and own results. Management/supervisory responsibility scope to be applied to a single large & complex functional group or multiple functions of related processes.
Responsibilities:
Responsible for the management and coordination of assigned units within the MTS Brokerage Shared Services organization. Supervises a team of managers & professionals and provides technical, functional and operational expertise in the various areas of responsibility within MTS Brokerage Shared Services.
Application of a significant range of analytical, financial services industry, technical, or accounting/financial management concepts. Provides support in the form of transactional processing, risk and control monitoring, reconciliation, problem resolution research, management reporting and analysis. Responsibility and independent latitude for complex problem research and analysis. Leadership in the development or enhancement of new service offerings and process changes. Application of critical behaviors and skills consistent with managerial/supervisory responsibilities such as facilitating change, coaching and developing, decision making, communication, building partnerships and owning results. Management/supervisory responsibility scope to be applied to multiple functional group or set of related processes.
Licensed supervision of critical daily activities within Securities Operations unit to meet requirements of FINRA rule 3110(c)(2) and 3112 regarding the review and monitoring of specified activities to include but not limited to safeguarding of customer funds and securities, maintaining books and records, supervision of supervisory licensed personnel, transmittal of funds and securities from customers to third party accounts; from customer accounts to outside entities; from customer accounts to locations other than a customer’s primary residence; and between customers and registered representatives, including the hand-delivery of checks, and changes of customer account information, including address and investment objectives changes, and validation of such changes.
Supervise and coordinate other daily activities as defined by FINRA as “covered” back office functions (FINRA Rule 1230(b)(6) to include but not limited to: monitoring department work queues related to client on-boarding, financial control, maintenance, reinvestment and disbursement of funds through trading, daily reporting and approvals, as well as management reporting to identify trends and resolve discovered issues.
Provide technical, functional and operational expertise in department work policies and procedures. Provide leadership, guidance and feedback to staff, as well as training, ensure the implementation of department goals through assigned staff.
Provide input and ideas to management focused on efficiencies within department and reducing risk for responsible functions. May facilitate process innovation and/or special projects assigned by manager.
Responsible for performing tasks in a manner that are compliant with applicable laws and regulations and/or that serve to help the company be in compliance with laws and regulations that apply to the business line the position supports.
Perform Supervisory Principal functions in a manner that are compliant with FINRA, MSRB and Written Supervisory Procedures dictated by FINRA and the broker dealer.
Exercise usual authority of a manager concerning staffing, performance appraisals, promotions, salary recommendations, performance management and terminations.
Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the M&T Bank brand.
Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.
Complete other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelors' Degree or in lieu of degree four years' combination of higher education and work experience
Minimum 4 years operations/industry experience
FINRA Series 99
Ability to obtain FINRA series 7 within 6 months
Ability to obtain FINRA series 24 within 12 months
Demonstrated prior work leadership
Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communications skills
Reliable and strong work ethic and ability to work within and across teams
Demonstrate interpersonal skills
Preferred Qualifications:
In-depth knowledge of documents, procedures, measures and terminology of the department
Ability to interact with all levels of personnel, lead cross-training activities and work under pressure

Highly flexible and ability to multi-task
