Job Description

Function:
Supports releasing collateral on accounts that are paid in full and active and supports the Commercial Bank, Business Banking and Leasing business lines. Uses appropriate systems, internal databases, Filenet and county web sites and works closely with internal business partners, title companies and attorneys to meet customer requests. Ensures requests are thoroughly analyzed so that collateral supporting other loans is not released and requests are properly authorized with appropriate amount of credit authority. Release requests include real estate, assets covered under the Uniform Commercial Code, vehicles, deposits, investments, aircrafts, ships and other collateral types.
Responsibilities:
Review and research requests from business partners, attorneys and title companies and obtain appropriate authority to release various types of collateral as outlined in the request. Collateral types include real estate, assets covered under the Uniform Commercial Code, vehicles, investment accounts, deposits, aircrafts, ships, patents, trademarks, etc.
Execute instructions provided by senior collateral associates.
Communicate with internal and external business partners throughout the release process.
Send documents to business partners, customers and third parties, or to various jurisdictions for recording as instructed.
Use third party vendor software to help research and facilitate release requests.
Remove holds or generate letters to remove holds on internal accounts.
Remove exceptions as appropriate.
Remove accounts from insurance tracking.
Update key tracking systems with release information.
Understand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.
Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the M&T Bank brand.
Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.
Complete other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
Minimum of an Associate’s degree, or in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 2 years’ higher education and/or work experience
Preferred Qualifications:
2 years relevant work experience
