Job Description

Function:
Responsible for preparing legal closing documents for Commercial and Personal Uses transactions in accordance with credit policy and regulatory requirements. Supports Commercial, Business Banking and Private Banking lines of business. Responsibilities include managing complex document preparation operations including understanding of loan approval and borrower structure, credit policy requirements, ordering and reviewing of supporting documentation (due diligence) requirements, legal package creation and quality review. Communicates regularly with Relationship Managers/Liaisons, sales and Operations Management, internal counsel's office, Compliance and others. Understands basic to mid-level complexity closing package preparation requests, ordering and analyzing required due diligence as well as interacting with Relationship Managers/Liaisons on any challenges or issues with the request. Works under tight time frames to meet customer needs.
Responsibilities:
Analyze preparation request to include credit approval to determine requirements.
Order required due diligence to support the document preparation request in accordance with approval and credit policy requirements.
Complete documentation package and deliver to the Relationship Manager for execution.
Interact with Relationship Manager, Relationship Liaison, internal counsel and management to clarify missing or unclear information to complete the document preparation package.
Complete packages on standard preparation requests and receive training for higher complexity packages.
Image document preparation working files.
Understand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.
Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the M&T Bank brand.
Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.
Complete other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
Associate’s degree and a minimum of 1 year’s relevant work experience, or in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 3 years’ higher education and/or work experience, including a minimum of 1 year’s relevant work experience
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree
Paralegal experience
