Construction Loan Monitoring and Support

Basic Function:
Ensure operational efficiency and targeted results are met. Responsible for providing strategic direction and for managing the planning, development and leadership implementation of resources and initiatives in support of vision operations. Provide representation and approvals on the most complex, critical and highly visible projects at the division and/or bank-wide level. Develops departmental work policies and procedures.

Manage the Construction Loan Monitoring and Support group for M&T’s highly-complex portfolio of commercial real estate and multifamily residential construction loans.
  • Responsible for multiple direct reports in 5 regional locations and indirectly responsible for 45 employees in a specialist or analytical capacity.
    • Align servicing, support and administration with the regional goals and objectives of our business partners
  • Develop strategies to achieve competitive advantages and supports corporate priorities.
  • Participate in the divisional long-term planning process and responsible for the implementation of short-term initiatives. 
  • Develop and enhance production metrics and key performance indicators to monitor service, performance and improvement.
  • Achieve operational profitability and efficiencies, prevent and/or resolve irregularities with minimal adverse impact to organization.
  • Responsible for the creation of new and/or revised department/division policy and procedures.
  • Provide approval of new methods and procedures to make daily operations more efficient & continuously enhance customer service.
  • Responsible for ensuring completion of departments/division contingency planning and regulatory compliance.
  • Conduct negotiations with outside vendors.
  • Responsible and accountable for annual budget process, requisition approval and for providing appropriate level signing authority. 
  • Responsible for the development and review of department/division project initiatives. 
  • Act in a liaison capacity with senior management. 
  • Exercise usual authority of manager concerning staffing, performance appraisals, promotions, salary recommendations, performance management and terminations.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree or in lieu of degree four to five years relevant experience.
  • Minimum ten years operations experience.
  • Minimum seven years supervisory/management experience.
  • Strong Leadership Skills with proven experience identifying, developing, and retaining staff
  • Knowledge of loan products, systems and workflows.
  • Experience with process improvement methodology and business process management techniques.
  • Proficient in software utilized in department to include Microsoft Office. 
  • Knowledge of process improvement methodology and business process management techniques.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
