P&C Claim Consultant - M&T Insurance Agency
Location: Syracuse, NY
To facilitate commercial claim service for our internal and external partners.  The primary job function is to positively impact the claims management needs of our customers and provide internal support to our  sales and service personnel.
  • Assist in receiving & reporting claims based on a solid knowledge of the insurance industry, understanding of the client’s needs, an evaluation of the claim, and consultation with producer.
  • Ensure that insured’s coverages are interpreted and clients receive correct information by developing and applying coverage knowledge.
  • Work with the carriers and their adjusters to assure that the claim is processed in a timely manner and monitor carrier reserving of claims on standard and loss sensitive programs.
  • Advocate for the successful closure of open claims on behalf of our customers
  • Maintain a high level of communication with the producer, client, companies, and other departments that may be linked to the claim.
  • Coordinate customer claims reviews as needed with producers with focus on Workers Compensation claims.  Prepare and analyze related materials for reviews and on an as needed basis.
This position is the direct link with the customer for all their property and casualty claims needs and questions.  The employee interacts directly with the insurance company’s claims personnel; this position is a critical link between the client and MTIA after a loss.

Associates degree and minimum of 3 years P&C Insurance experience OR combination of 5 years of relevant experience and upper education.

Ability to travel up to 10%

Prior work experience as licensed adjustor.  Workers Compensation experience preferred.
Proficient with Word, Excel and ModMaster for analytical review and presentation of an account’s historical claims experience.
