BASIC FUNCTION:
Supports the Private Banking team in all aspects of client service, account opening and maintenance, and office administration. Services a full range of Private Banking products and services for high-net-worth clients to meet their needs and provide a superior service experience.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work independently to service the daily transaction needs of Private Banking clients, including problem resolution, overdrafts, account delinquency, wire transfers, book transfers, account maintenance, etc. to ensure they are addressed in a timely manner and to the satisfaction of the client, while looking for alternative options.
Apply sound, independent judgment and take ownership over operational problems resulting from direct interaction with clients or obtained from Private Bankers to resolve routine to complex service issues of Private Banking clients, with the goal of exceeding their expectations to contribute to the retention and expansion of client relationships.
Open new deposit and loan accounts and modify existing accounts on the appropriate system to meet the needs of Private Banking clients.
Build, manage and maintain strong client relationships through daily interactions with clients and internal business partners to contribute to the retention and expansion of client relationships.
Remain current on products and services, internal policies and procedures and external developments, including regulations, which may affect the client and the Bank.
Review daily department reports to ensure compliance with operation, security and audit procedures as well as a positive client experience. Follow established procedures when the report review identifies an issue to ensure it is resolved.
Assist in the management of day-to-day service needs of Private Banking clients.
Understand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.
Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the M&T Bank brand.
Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.
Responsible for meeting and maintaining registration requirements under the Federal SAFE Act.
Complete other related duties as assigned.

NATURE AND SCOPE:
Private Banking provides banking services, loans and deposits, tailored to the needs of wealthy individuals, families and business owners. Private Banking is one or four integrated services offered within Wilmington Trust Advisory – the other are trust estate planning, investment management and family office/governance services. Private Banking clients are defined as high net worth, meaning they have a net worth greater than $5 mm, excluding their personal residence, and liquidity typically greater than $3 mm. Clients often have existing relationships with Commercial Banking and/or Wilmington Trust, however, Private Banking also targets prospects for the development of new client relationships. This position is critical to Private Banking, as the Service Specialist interacts on a daily basis with the bank’s wealthiest and most influential clients. These clients often have direct access to senior bank executives and other influencers within the community. Providing this clientele with superior, individualized service demands a comprehensive knowledge of all aspects of the bank and a general knowledge of its many products and services.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 3 years’ experience in a private banking or wealth management customer service role, or in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 7 years’ higher education and/or work experience, including a minimum of 3 years’ experience in a private banking or wealth management customer service role.
Strong customer service skills.

Strong organizational skills.
Knowledge of consumer and commercial banking products and services.
Ability to obtain and maintain state-specific Notary License.
Proficiency with personal computers as well as pertinent word processing, spreadsheet and presentation software.

IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED:
Minimum of 3 years’ private banking, wealth management, commercial banking and/or branch experience.
Exposure to and knowledge of the Bank’s retail and commercial banking systems.
Knowledge of Private Banking products and services.
Ability to work independently and in a team-based environment.
