Job Description

Responsible for the development, management and execution of Process Re-engineering efforts across Divisions or functional areas. May support strategic Process Re-engineering efforts. Uses tools from Six Sigma, LEAN, Project Management and Change Management to consult with the business to develop strategic recommendations to improve processes and programs.
Lead process improvement initiatives and teams focused on one division or function using process improvement tools such as current state assessments, data analysis, and creation of strategic future state processes and organizational models. Efforts are focused on reducing costs, cycle time, errors and risk, encompassing the concepts of LEAN, Six Sigma, Change Management, and Problem Solving Methodologies.
May support larger strategic Project/Process initiatives working under the direction of Senior Process Re-engineering Managers/Program Manager, using process tools such as process mapping, root cause analysis, and data collection and analysis.
Prepare recommendations to senior management for the execution and prioritization of process re-engineering efforts.
Prepare and execute related project plans to provide a framework for the project as well as regular updates and status reports.
Communicate deliverables for project milestones to project sponsors to ensure their awareness and support as well as identify any issues.
Implement measurement tools to track organizational improvement resulting from implementation of approved Process Re-engineering Projects.
Develop business case and project benefits and monitor actual results against projected benefits. Work to incorporate into Bank financial plan.
May coach and mentor Process Analysts.
Understand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.
Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the M&T Bank brand.
Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.
Complete other related duties as assigned.
Manages and executes Process Re-engineering projects impacting one division, functional area and/or business line to improve efficiency, reduce expenses and provide improved service to customers.
Champions change through Process Re-engineering efforts.
Responsible for internal and external stakeholder management related to programs managed for assigned efforts.
The position has responsibility for operational risk associated with assigned process excellence programs.
The position has approval and signing authority within established limits.
May indirectly manage project teams of up to 20.
Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 3 years’ proven and progressive process improvement experience or a minimum of 4 years’ proven project management and/or general management experience, OR in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 7 years’ higher education and/or work experience, including a minimum of 3 years’ proven and progressive process improvement experience or a minimum of 4 years’ proven project management and/or general management experience.
Proficiency with personal computers as well as pertinent software packages.
Knowledge of process improvement methodology and business process management techniques.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, particularly an ability to negotiate, influence and gain consensus.
Regularly communicates verbally and in writing with management on status of initiatives, in a professional and understandable manner.
Curious and innovative.
Excellent problem-solving skills.
Ability to work individually as well as a member of a team.
Self-motivated, results-driven and well-organized individual.
Ability to handle multiple tasks and work under time constraints in support of various assignments.

Master’s degree.
Track record of proven process management results.
LEAN certified, and/or Six Sigma Green Belt/Black Belt certified.
