Product Manager I - Payments Buffalo, NY
 
THE OPPORTUNITY:
Responsible for the innovation and management of a single payments product or initiative to introduce new payments products to market. 
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assess new and emerging payments capabilities in market and recommend product strategy based on bank, customer, and line of business objectives.    Manage cross functional working groups to assess new payments opportunities in market and provide recommendations to leadership.    Develop and manage industry benchmarking.  Identify gaps in product capability and user experience compared to the industry. Recommend opportunities to these close gaps.   Develop and manage enterprise payments reporting and metrics to identify bank performance compared to industry and peer performance.  Recommend product and operational strategy based on trend reporting. Develop a keen understanding of payments operations, business processes, and controls and identify opportunity to achieve greater efficiencies across the organization.  Use this knowledge to drive transformational change. Collaborate with business partners to understand organization and line of business objectives; drive innovation by recommending opportunities to enhance payments product roadmaps to align with business objectives. Challenge members of cross functional teams to think creatively and drive new products to market. Manage all aspects of new product implementation and existing product enhancements.  This includes but is not limited to the design and development of services; act in a liaison capacity with affected departments.

Understand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.
Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the M&T Bank brand.

NATURE AND SCOPE:
The position is responsible for managing a single product line or the simpler, less complex services for a market segment.
The position may be responsible for managing a staff depending upon the product and need.
The incumbent interacts extensively with both internal and external contacts.

MANAGERIAL/SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:
The position may have staff responsibility.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 3 years’ proven marketing, product management, financial, operations and/or project management experience, or in lieu of a degree a combined minimum of 7 years’ higher education and/or work experience, including a minimum of 3 years’ proven marketing, product management, financial, operations and/or project management experience.
Strong interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills.
Demonstrated financial analysis skills.
Strong analytical skills.

IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED:
Master’s degree.
Knowledge of software programs utilized by department.
