Job Description

Basic Function:

M&T is looking to hire an individual contributor into a strategic position that will shape the perception of digital banking across the enterprise. This individual will play a key role in the enterprise-wide socialization of concepts/themes, such as:

  • Digital products and services will increasingly provide customers with their first impressions of M&T
  • Digital products and services (e.g., mobile app) are at the front line of the customer experience
  • Digital products and services will increasingly become the customer’s primary experience with M&T.

These concepts will inform key projects aimed at evolving the way the Bank thinks about digital, payments, RTP, and Account Opening. This individual will also use these themes to emphasize the strategic benefits of common digital standards, which should be leveraged across divisions (e.g., retail, commercial, wealth) to raise the digital profile of the organization as a whole.
The ideal candidate for this role will display the following abilities:

  • Ability to present contentious information/unpopular message in a manner that is both effective and productive. 
  • Ability to communicate persuasively, such that the candidate can gain buy-in from key stakeholders.

  • Candidate should understand and be prepared to challenge the paradigms that shape the Bank’s perspective (i.e., display ability to provide effective challenge of the status quo at all levels of the organization).
  • Candidate should display an ability to think “big-picture” and conceive of ideas and strategies at the enterprise level.
  • Candidate should also have the ability to anticipate consequences several steps beyond the immediate to proactively address potential hurdles. 
  • Influencer and Team Leader
  • Lead cross-functional teams to align with a common goal, even when the candidate does not have direct authority over the team/individuals. 
  • Even without direct leadership authority, candidate should display model leadership qualities, including developing a shared vision of success and empowering other team members. 
  • Candidate should have (or have the ability to develop) strong relationships throughout the Bank, including within Technology. 
  • Self-Motivated / Self-Starter 
  • Candidate should be motivated to continually learn about the digital space and identify opportunities for the team and organization. 
  • Self-starter; ability to action upon and execute executive-level visions and objectives. 

Minimum Qualifications Required: 
Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 10 years’ proven marketing, product management, financial, operations and/or project management experience, or in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 14 years’ higher education and/or work experience, including a minimum of 10 years’ proven marketing, product management, financial, operations and/or project management experience.
Minimum of 3 years’ managerial and/or leadership experience.
Strong interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills.
Strong financial analysis skills.
Strong analytical skills.
Ideal Qualifications Preferred: 
Master’s degree.
Knowledge of software programs utilized by department.
