BASIC FUNCTION

Responsible for providing the strategic direction for multiple product lines and/or services for major existing or new market segment(s).  Responsible for setting strategic direction for a Wealth Management product, channel and/or set of initiatives.  Designs product, and develops market strategies (i.e. pricing, expense planning, profit plans, packaging, future products, and process and technology advancements, etc.) and goals and assures successful implementation; monitors the achievement of such goals. Formulates and implements policy and procedures. Ensures that application of M&T leadership, values and commitment through direct and indirect managers. May have profit/loss responsibility for the product.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

Sets strategic direction for assigned product lines, and presents business plans to senior management and employees.

Leads all business and strategic planning for a product, focused on client experience, client and advisor functionality and ease of use and speed of implementation.

Identifies, develop and implements solutions for emerging opportunities to ensure minimum industry standards are attained while seeking to further advance the platform to create competitiveness in the market.

Responsible for analyzing opportunities, shaping strategy, recommending and delivering solutions to position Wealth Management to offer client solution and service across the Wealth continuum.

Solution consider changing market conditions and offers the business a competitive advantage to support sales and service model connectivity, go to market strategies and client service standards.

Directly responsible for product pricing, cost structure, as well as product risk. Responsible for all product financials including revenue planning and product profitability.

Responsible for sales channel strategy. Review new developments in company markets, evaluating and recommending new services, new products or geographies, or the modification of existing services or products. Evaluate new product/services success; implement and manage changes in service or marketing strategy.

Manage all aspects of new product implementation and existing product modification to include but not limited to the design and development of services, portfolio acquisition and process improvements; act in a liaison capacity with affected departments.

Establish marketing objectives; work with other bank departments to develop effective programs to sell services/products.

Ensure product/services are marketable, profitable and comply with legal and regulatory requirements

Maintain an awareness of new trends and developments in marketing and company products and services. Develop and provide ongoing group and individual training for staff in regard to presentation skills, product knowledge and best practices and procedures.

Exercise usual authority of a manager concerning staffing, performance appraisals, promotions, salary recommendations, performance management and terminations.

Understand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite. Design, implement, maintain and enhance internal controls to mitigate risk on an ongoing basis. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.

Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the M&T Bank brand.

Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.

Complete other related duties as assigned.

NATURE AND SCOPE:

Results and/or actions impact the bank’s long-term operations, revenues or profitability. The incumbent has extensive contact with other bank departments for the effective and profitable marketing of new products and the enhancement of existing products.

Champion strategies and development of new and improved processes that support business growth, organizational efficiencies and customer service objectives.

Oversee and evaluate high-level processing key performance indicator models and develop reporting to manage business function processes effectively.


MANAGERIAL/SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:
Will manage a staff of 5 to 20 employees.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Bachelor’s degree, and a minimum of 12 years’ experience in Marketing, Bank Operations, Credit Analysis and/or relevant product line(s), or in lieu of a degree a combined minimum of 16 years’ higher education and/or work experience, including a minimum of 12 years’ experience in Marketing, Bank Operations, Credit Analysis and/or relevant product line(s).
7 years’managerial and/or project management experience in relevant product line(s).
Strong financial analysis skills, including cash flow and components of product profitability.
Excellent developmental, analytical and research skills.
Extensive network of industry and client contacts on a national scale and extensive market intelligence.
Industry-specific knowledge.
Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong presentation skills.
Demonstrated principled leadership skills with sound business ethics.
Dedicated customer service focus. Ability to use expert resources when necessary.

IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED:
Master’s degree.
Extensive knowledge of Bank/personal computer software programs utilized by the Division.
Ability to interact professionally with all levels of personnel, including senior management.
Self-motivated, well-organized individual.
Action-oriented individual.
Ability to work under critical time constraints.
