THE OPPORTUNITY: 
 
The responsibilities of Reference Data Manager include activities in the domains of Reference Data Management, Data Governance, Data Architecture, Metadata Management, Data Quality, Business Data Analytics and Project Management.
 
Manage the planning, development and implementation of various projects and initiatives in support of the department and/or division. Develops project plans ensuring activities to be performed, estimated time frame and effort, and other pertinent information is covered. Manage the day-to-day project activities.
 
Provides short and long term strategic direction for the team and applications in line with the goals of department and the clients they support. Responsible for managing client relations and expectations. Manages the project queue for their area. Strives to achieve individual and organizational objectives at minimum cost to the firm.

ESSENTIAL POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
 
Reference Data Manager
  • Research, Define and Document WISD Reference Data Needs
  • Partner with WISD Technology and EDO to implement Reference Data Management in WISD
  • Collaborate with Business Resources to Identify Reference Data to be Managed and Develop a Roadmap for implementation within the Enterprise Reference Data Platform
  • Participate as a Reference Data SME on WISD and Enterprise Projects
  • Conduct high-level analysis in specific areas of expertise, identify and resolve work-processing issues, make suggestions to streamline operations.
  • Research routine Reference Data issues and inquiries. Resolve discrepancies and take action on routine matters and inquiries from external clients and internal departments.
  • Maintain Rigor in Reference Data Management by continually reviewing and monitoring data consistency. 
 
Data Architecture & Metadata Management
  • Determine official sources of data in scope of the domain
  • Define and validate business metadata for each data element
  • Review and validate technical metadata & data lineage for data elements
  • Identify and document population, filters and thresholds required for data elements
  • Implement changes to business definitions and metadata
 Data Quality Management & Oversight
  • Identify business rules and data quality for E/CDE’s
  • Collaborate with other domains to align quality requirements of the data element
  • Prioritize data issues to remediate
  • Design, review and approve remediation plans
  • Oversee remediation of Reference Data Issues
  • Expand communication and collaboration network within domain and other domains
  • Communicate projects that affect E/CDE’s, metadata and lineage to the EDO and other data roles.
 
NATURE AND SCOPE:
  • Individual contributor role
  • The incumbent works under the supervision of a Department Manager.
  • The incumbent interacts with senior management, other technology personnel, clients and vendors.
  • The Reference Data Manager is responsible for long and short term strategies and creates a unified direction. The incumbent advocates new initiatives and demonstrates support of senior management decisions and direction.
 
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Minimum of two years college with at least eleven years experience in management and a systems development environment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Master’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline preferred.
  • CDMP Certification (Certified Data Management Professional)  OR DGSP Designation (Data Governance & Stewardship Professional) Preferred
  • Minimum five year’s management
  • Experience on large system enhancements, conversions and production problem resolution.
  • Requires a complete understanding of the system development life cycle and of the Bank’s enterprise architecture.
  • An understanding of multiple business area’s functions is preferred.
  • Requires familiarity with application development support software and hardware platforms.
 
TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
  • Ability to effectively use project management, word processing and spreadsheet applications.
  • Knowledge of Informatica Tools Suite, Tableau, SAS, ETLs, SQL
  • Excellent problem solving skills to assist in issue resolution.
  • Good understanding of the Bank’s application framework.
  • Familiar with application development software and hardware platforms.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to effectively present to the target audience.
  • Requires excellent analytical, organization, project, and time management skills, strong judgement, and management skills, and the ability to work effectively with clients and IT management and staff personnel. Knows how to work within the organization; understands the agendas and perspectives of others.
  • Encourages teamwork and acts as a role model when leading and directing others.
  • Must be able to assert ideas and gain support and commitment from others.
  • Experience and skill in managing across functional and organizational lines.
