Job Description

Responsible for working with the senior citizen population to originate reverse mortgages, FHA/HECM (Home Equity Conversion Mortgages) and participates in related business development activities. Regularly and customarily travels to and works at prospective customers’ homes, business or other locations away from the office. Follows-up on potential customers via travel or telephone. Must adhere to the requirements of federal registration under the SAFE Act
Solicit reverse mortgages through contacts with elder law attorneys, local tax receivers, senior based community organizations, office of the aging, banks, credit unions, and mortgage companies that do not offer reverse mortgage product.
Interview applicants to develop information concerning their needs, desires, and to assist in determining whether a reverse mortgage is an appropriate option. Discuss and review the terms and conditions of the reverse mortgage with seniors.
Keep informed of trends and developments in the reverse mortgage industry, as well as changing rules and regulations pertaining to reverse mortgage products.
Call on potential or existing customers to develop new or to retain business.
Understand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.
Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the M&T Bank brand.
Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.
Responsible for meeting and maintaining registration requirements under the Federal SAFE Act.
Complete other related duties as assigned.
The position requires extensive external contacts such as the senior citizen population as well as internal contacts.
The incumbent is required to travel extensively with limited supervision.
Responsibility to establish and maintain federal registration requirements outlined in the SAFE Act.
Minimum two years sales experience.
General knowledge of personal computers and software programs.
Willingness to spend over 80% of week on sales calls outside office.
Ability to interact with senior citizen population at all income levels and peers in a professional manner.
Proven sales ability.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and to follow through on details to completion
