Senior Operational Risk Analyst Buffalo, NY

Support the first line of defense risk management function by assisting with the identification and assessment of risks, risk monitoring and testing, and issues management. Provide assistance in the development of various operational risk/compliance related initiatives within the line of business and manage the implementation of more complex initiatives.

Assist in the planning, execution, and reporting of the business unit's first line of defense risk management function including ensuring the documentation of key processes and internal controls. Ensure the complete and proper identification and assessment of risks in the business unit's key processes in accordance with the Enterprise Risk Framework, internal guidance, and risk management professional standards.
Accurately complete Risk Control Self Assessments (RCSAs) and other risk management reporting. Appropriately escalate issues and report risk events and loss events in a timely manner.
Identify emerging risks and risks associated with new products/ services/ markets/ channels or changes to existing products/ services/ markets/ channels.
Develop, implement and oversee the maintenance of policies and procedures for the business unit. This includes the updating of policies in response to federal, state or business unit process changes. In addition, assist in responding to both internal and external requests in relation to departmental policies and procedures.

Typically no direct reports

Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 3 years’ proven project management experience or minimum of 6 years’ proven general management experience, OR in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 7 years’ higher education and/or work experience, including a minimum of 3 years’ proven project management experience or minimum of 6 years’ proven general management experience.
Operational Risk Management experience
Familiarity with IT General Computer Controls

Proficiency with personal computers as well as pertinent software packages.
Sound knowledge of project management methodology.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, particularly an ability to negotiate, influence and gain consensus.
Regularly communicates verbally and in writing with management on status of initiatives, in a professional and understandable manner.
Excellent problem-solving skills.
Ability to work individually as well as a member of a team.
Self-motivated, results-driven and well-organized individual.
Ability to handle multiple tasks and work under time constraints in support of various assignments.
Ability to function professionally at many different levels (clients, management and peers).
Strong interpersonal skills necessary for business partner relationships within and outside the organization.

ISACA CISA or CRISC certification preferred.
Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or willing to obtain within 24 months
