Job Description

FUNCTION: Supervises the daily departmental workflow of assigned unit (usually 10-15 employees), which may include exempt staff.  Exercises supervisory authority over staff. 
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: Supervises and coordinates daily workflow to meet departmental objectives. 
Provides leadership, guidance, and feedback to staff, as well as training when necessary.
Communicates and enforces operational and procedural changes to stay in compliance with Bank policy and/or government regulations.
May perform data analysis and reporting of departmental statistics. 
Exercise the authority as a supervisor concerning scheduling, salary recommendations, candidate interviews/hiring, corrective action/termination, performance appraisals, and promotions.
May facilitate process innovation and/or special projects assigned by manager.
Responsible for performing tasks in a manner that are compliant with applicable laws and regulations and / or that serve to help the company be in compliance with laws and regulations that apply to the business line the position supports.
Adhere to applicable compliance/operational risk controls in accordance with Company or regulatory standards and policies.
Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the M&T Bank brand.
Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.
Complete other related duties as assigned.
NATURE AND SCOPE: The incumbent must use independent judgment and discretion in the day-to-day management of assigned unit.
MANAGERIAL/SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: The incumbent is responsible for the supervision of an assigned unit, usually 10-15 employees, which can include both non-exempt and exempt staff. 
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: Bachelor’s degree and 3 years’ experience in the department or comparable area or in lieu of a degree a combined minimum of 7 years higher education and/or work experience, including a minimum of 3 years’ experience in a department or comparable area.
2 years supervisory experience.
Strong knowledge of relevant utilized spreadsheet, word-processing, presentation, and departmental software.
IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED: In-depth knowledge of documents, procedures, measures and terminology of the department.
Demonstrated work leadership ability.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Ability to interact with all levels of personnel.
Proven problem-solving skills.
Time management and organizational skills.
