OPPORTUNITY:
The Systems Manager I position manages the activities of several technology Team Leaders or units and is responsible for each Team’s/unit’s development and systems support efforts. Provides short and long term strategic direction for the units and applications in line with the goals of department and the clients they support. Responsible for managing client relations and expectations. Manages the project queue for their area. Strives to achieve individual and organizational objectives at minimum cost.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manages the activities of several technology Team Leaders or units and is responsible for each team’s/unit’s development and systems support efforts. Provides short and long term strategic direction for the units and applications in line with the goals of department and the clients they support.
 
Responsible for managing client relations and expectations. Manages the project queue for their area. Strives to achieve individual and organizational objectives at minimum cost.
 
This position will lead technical teams through delivery of new systems within the Finance area. Experience with Financial Institutions, Finance Departments and Financial Systems desired. Experience leading technical teams mandatory.

NATURE AND SCOPE:
The incumbent works under the supervision of a Department Manager.
The Systems Manager is responsible for managing all aspects of multiple teams, including resource, project and vendor management.
The incumbent interacts with senior management, other technology personnel, clients and vendors.
The Systems Manager is responsible for long and short term strategies and creates a unified direction. The incumbent advocates new initiatives and demonstrates support of senior management decisions and direction.

MANAGERIAL/SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:
Number of staff varies.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Minimum of an Associates’ degree and a minimum of 10 years’ systems development experience, or in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 12 years’ higher education and/or work experience

Minimum of 2 years’ managerial or leadership experience

Experience on large system enhancements, conversions and production problem resolution
Familiarity with application development support software and hardware platforms
Ability to effectively use project management, word processing and spreadsheet applications
Excellent problem solving skills to assist in issue resolution
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively present to the target audience
Excellent analytical, organization, project, and time management skills; strong judgment and management skills; understands the agendas and perspectives of others
Must be able to assert ideas and gain support and commitment from others
Experience and skill in managing across functional and organizational lines

IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline
Complete understanding of the system development life cycle and the Bank’s enterprise architecture
Understanding of multiple business area’s functions
Good understanding of the Bank’s application framework
Ability to work effectively with clients and IT management and staff personnel
Knows how to work within the organization
Encourages teamwork and acts as a role model when leading and directing others
Must be proactive
Self-motivated and able to motivate others
Ability to handle multiple tasks
Aware of the Bank’s business plan and strategic objectives with the ability to shape direction
