Job Description

The Opportunity: Plan, design, schedule and deliver internal training programs to increase job related skills and knowledge in support of the needs of the Bank’s businesses
Primary Responsibilities: Deliver classroom and internal training programs at any of several training locations. 
May also co-facilitate higher level specialized training programs under the guidance of a Training Specialist III or Training Manager.
Will be involved in initial training design and enhancing training programs and/ or materials.
Partner with management to gain strong knowledge of work situations requiring training and to better understand changes in policies, procedures, regulations, business initiatives and technologies.
Adapt classroom instruction, as needed, to meet trainee needs.
Evaluate trainees’ performance and progress through observation, verbal questioning and a variety of assessment mechanisms. 
Provide coaching, feedback and direction to trainees to facilitate development of desired knowledge and skill.
Maintain all records necessary with respect to the progress, performance,  work habits and attendance of trainees. 
Address needs and problems that arise during training classes.
Where applicable, completes appraisals on the performance of each trainees and submits to management along with recommendations for support.
Utilize several methods i.e.:  branch visits, reviews and evaluates the effectiveness of training programs and makes recommendations, as necessary.
May manage specific training program(s).
May obtain required vendor certifications for specific training programs.
May develop Web Based Training programs.
May be involved, to some extent, in some or all of the following:  (i) setting policy or developing and overseeing the implementation of procedures or controls related to compliance requirements within the overall business processes; (ii) directly or indirectly monitoring functions that, on a day-to-day basis, ensure that the procedures and controls are functioning as designed (e.g., reviewing and resolving exception reports or ensuring that exception reporting is occurring and/or providing reporting and trending of data for management), (iii) developing training of business line personnel regarding procedures and controls designed to ensure compliance with laws and/or regulations, (iv) performing or overseeing embedded compliance self-testing, or (v) managing examinations or audits involving regulatory matters and any resultant corrective actions.
Adhere to applicable compliance/operational risk controls in accordance with Company or regulatory standards and policies.
Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the M&T Bank brand.
Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.
Complete other related duties as assigned.
Nature and Scope: Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
Monitors participants in class and addresses all problems including work habits and performance. 
Works with HR Generalist to address performance issues, as needed.
Some degree of latitude and creativity is expected.
May serve in a mentoring capacity for Training Specialist I.
Primary job functions typically require exercising some independent judgment.
Serves as an agent for change.
Viewed as a credible resource.
Works under limited supervision.
Managerial/Supervisory Responsibility:  May lead the work of others.
Minimum Qualifications Required: High school diploma or equivalent. 
Post high school coursework or experience in banking, finance or banking related fields. 
Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Minimum of 2 – 4 years related experience , i.e. banking, customer service and or teaching/training.
Specialized certification ie:  DDI, ELI, Human Resources, as required for training programs within one year.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Access, and PowerPoint) and GroupWise or other email system.
Ideal Qualifications Preferred: Ability to instruct at various education levels.
Excellent communication, presentation and facilitation skills.
