Job Description

Position will work as part of a small agile team that leads Treasury Strategic Initiatives across the bank and externally. Help shape direction, gain consensus, and drive action.  Initiatives tend to be unique issues which require thoughtful approaches.  Supports design, planning and implementation for time-sensitive, critical, programs and/or projects. Supports facilitation of industry groups that meet regularly to share best practices and promote industry advocacy efforts.
Support planning and implementation of new projects, products, programs and initiatives to achieve short and long-term business objectives and strategic outcomes.
Lead effort to maintain project documentation. Develop comprehensive documentation that aligns with regulatory expectations as required.
Assist the team in addressing problems/solutions, risks and issues. Analyze information, determine feasible solutions and articulate recommendations to project team. Apply critical thinking to independently navigate problems/issues.
Develop and produce basic ad-hoc and automated departmental analyses and reports, including workflow and project analyses, trend reporting and strategic analyses. Distill information and create an executive summary to drive action.
Adhere to all standards and procedures ensuring high quality work and that efforts are appropriately and accurately documented.
Understand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.
Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the M&T Bank brand.
Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.
Complete other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 2 years’ relevant work experience, or in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 6 years’ higher education and/or work experience, including a minimum of 2 years’ relevant work experience
Strong attention to detail
Strong analytical ability
Creative problem solving skills
Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
Prior experience handling multiple tasks and working under time constraints in support of various assignments
Proficient with personal computers and spreadsheet, database, graphing, and presentation software
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelors’ degree in Finance, Economics, Math, Accounting, Engineering, or Business Administration
2 years’ relevant work experience
Banking/financial industry experience
Six Sigma, Lean or Process Improvement, or project management related education
Experience with SQL, programming, statistical software
Experience with financial, regulatory and/or process analysis and technical writing
Curious and innovative
Ability to work independently and function as a member of a team
Comfortable w/ambiguity (many of the requests are undefined, no set template to follow)
Action oriented, self-starter - able to run with little direction
Polished communicator, verbal and written (or willing to learn!)
Experience working with and presenting to executives
