Vulnerability Assessment Analyst

Amherst, NY

 

Function:
Actively performs security vulnerability assessments to identify, analyze, and report vulnerabilities
Responsibilities:
Tests regulatory requirements in solution(s) processes.
Assists in the validation/remediation and ensures compliance with information security policy & regulation requirements.
Assist in development and implementation of infosec vulnerability management policies.
Generate, collect, store and retain audit data.
Generate a complete list of auditable events for all user activity and processing formatting, filtering, and sharing the data.
Assist in the evaluation of Vendor, Vendor Relationships, Assessments and Associated Toolsets.
Execute solution(s) process and procedures.
Act as first line Tier 1 support through channels like phone, email, chat, or other means. This support is intended to be the first to acknowledge an incident and track findings until successfully remediated.
Understand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.
Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the M&T Bank brand.
Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable. Complete other related duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
Associate's degree and a minimum of 1 year's work experience, or in lieu of a degree a combined minimum of 3 years higher education and/or work experience, including a minimum of 1 year's work experience
Demonstrated knowledge of risk management and vulnerability assessment tools
Customer-service experience with solid communication and advocacy skills, both verbal and written, with understanding in dealing with complex and technical issues using clear and concise language
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree
Security certification or Cybersecurity domain-related industry-recognized certification
Some technical writing skills and attention to detail
Experience with and knowledge of application security architecture (e.g., operating systems, firewalls, IDS, etc.)
Some knowledge of prevalent operational security tactics and techniques. This includes things such as vulnerability exploits and countermeasures, remote access Trojans and related persistence techniques, later movement, social engineering, etc.
Self-Starter with good prioritization and multi-tasking skills with willingness to learn and grow
Understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP) and incident response
Understanding of web services architecture and protecting public APIs
